This morning, an inspiration particle actually managed to penetrate the thick shell surrounding my brain, and I feel I may single-handedly advance mathematics by what I am about to reveal:

13.14159... = piteen.

This can be extrapolated into 23.14159... (twenty-pi) 314.159... (pi hundred) and so on.

I do hope no one is taking me seriously.

Technically, 20pi is 20 x 3.14159... (in other words, or rather numbers, 62.8318...) whereas twenty-pi treats pi as a number between 3 and 4. The distinction between the two ideas is linguistically clearer when you get to the hundreds (100pi vs. pi hundred) but in that case, the number is the same.

Excuse me a moment, I need to untie my brain from its pretzel.

In thikning about this all the other day, I thought... what if people just decided to make pi into a digit between three and four? So that mathematics, in essence, had a base-11 counting system instead of base-10? To count 1, 2, 3, pi, 4... Would it be like saying C# was now a proper note in its own right so the scale would go A, B, C, C#, D...? Would anyone actually use it? Would it mess up everything? Would the universe collapse? (and of course, from that... would we be able to tell?) Is this all Bloody Stupid?

Sounds to me like something BS Johnson would like... maybe he can make a new fish lake with dimensions of pi x one hundred pi.
Or maybe he'd make an oven that actually calculates pi digits...

Ah. xD; There's not much I can say to that; although I think I actually understood that (after reading through it a few times), which is more that what I can usually.

. . . you know, I never even think that far. Okay, I know pi is, um, the standard measurement sort of thing for a circle? And if you did go 1, 2, 3, pi, 4, wouldn't that completely unbalance the rest of the numbers? Because you'd advance one until pi, when you'd advance, like, 8 point something. Where would, um, say, pi-teen go? Between thirteen and fourteen or not at all? Would pi be the last pi in the number scale? *can't think logically, not really*

I once read this interesting article (at least, I think it was an article) about how if we'd evolved with eleven fingers, would our system of measurement (especially the metric) be different? And then our entire currency would change, and probably new maths would be invented and . . .

Man, my head is spinning. xD;
