I was desperate for some drama and, without recourse to the iPlayer, had to make do with what was on my iPod, which was Othello. ..... Listened to it five times in three days and spent every available moment scribbling things down. And it wasn't even my favourite recording – I got it solely for Lenny Henry, who is a BOSS, but I much prefer the supporting cast in the Arkangel recording; someday I want to try splicing Mr Henry into that cast to make my perfect Frankenthello.

The unexplained conviction that Iago must have this costume (only with more buttons and less epaulettes) made me look up 19th-century Russian fashion for the rest of them, which was a good time ... I don't want to put them too distinctly in a place or time but I quite like the look.

I've forced myself to stop listening until the Arkangel one comes in the mail, but there'll probably be another batch of drawings when it does.

I've been mindbogglingly busy outside of work, and now that's cleared up, work is about to take its place. I'll try to update on further adventures but it might have to wait for Thanksgiving weekend ...
