Bonding Time With Scanners

FRIDAY AND SATURDAY'S SKETCHBOOK
Friday was a commute sketch day ... Saturday I went to the zoo with my sister's class so there are lots of pages. It was cold and windy and my hands were cold, so most of the drawings are rubbish. Oh well.

May or may not be in chronological order. They're scanned at work so they're all streaky, but it's not like they deserve the nice pretty labour-intensive home scanning anyway.

i was going to ask why so many rams? but that was before I read the actual text of the post X-P

you draw cats/lions/feline whatevers very well... I like your rhino's too... i think the faceless animals are most interesting though, it's kind of creepy

I have lots and lots of practise drawing cats. But I couldn't get the big cats' faces right, I just made them look like big domestic cats. : P There are lots of rams (actually one ram many times) because they were visible from outside the zoo when we were waiting for the rest of the group to arrive.

I wish I had your talent.

And now...

SHEEP!

Those are mightily awesome! The best one's the sad rhino, by far. :D

Just curious - how big is your sketchbook? Either it's smaller than most I've seen, or you draw way bigger than I thought.

It's 8.5''x11'', hardcover, about 200 pgs. I draw life drawings faaairly largeish (though not nearly large enough for my life drawing teacher), larger than usual sketches... which ought to be bigger as well, for looseness, which I do not have. I did crop some of these to get rid of empty space around the edges that would only have made for bigger files.

So . . . . .

Small. :(

Now, that's one glum rhino.

I envy you your cat-drawing ability. I can only ever get them right in profile.

Man, I've been wanting to go to the zoo to do some drawings. I've never done it before and I've been meaning too. I've drawn at the aquarium, but not the zoo. Sent me an e-mail or something next time you're planning a trip to the zoo. I would love to tag along if you don't mind. Later.

Next time I go ... IT WILL BE WARMER! :)

Nice drawings. I liked the big cats (who do not look like housecats to me) and the lizard.
