A Nod to the Day

JIM JIM JIMMY JIM, JIM JIM JIM!

I would like to take this day to express* my deepest dissatisfaction with the internet for it not having any good screencaps of Billy Connolly as Capt Billy Bones.

*spelled this 'espresed' this morning... that's the coffee talking.

YAR!!! BLAST THEM TO KINGDOME COME, SAYS I!

Happy talk-like-a-pirate day! XP

That movie has so many good lines. Like, "Don't cry for me, Benjamina..." "Pardon?" And "Off to Zanzibar, to meet the Zanzabarbarians and their exploding wigs of DEATH!"

[identity profile] thearchduchess.livejournal.com 2006-09-19 09:16 pm (UTC)(link)
HOW DOES SHE DO THAT?

[identity profile] bomburjo.livejournal.com 2006-09-19 09:30 pm (UTC)(link)
But I'm not Jim Jim Jimmy Jim, Jim Jim Jim -- he's Jim Jim Jimmy Jim, Jim Jim Jim!

:)

[identity profile] twirlynoodle.livejournal.com 2006-09-19 09:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Jim Jimmy Jimmy Jim Jim! BEWAAARE!

[identity profile] salamandersoup.livejournal.com 2006-09-19 10:08 pm (UTC)(link)
It sounds like he's about to burst out laughing when he says that part. xD

[identity profile] twirlynoodle.livejournal.com 2006-09-19 10:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Hehe, he probably is.

[identity profile] hollyanddragon.livejournal.com 2006-09-19 09:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah, classic.
I call my boyfriend that.
"Jim jim jimmy jim jim jim!"
"What did you just say?"
"Um...your name...Billy Connolly style!"

[identity profile] sweetmary.livejournal.com 2006-09-19 10:32 pm (UTC)(link)
XD
Is it sad that when friends and I went to see the new Pirates movie during the summer, we kept whispering Jim Jim Jimmy jim to one another? And other Muppet Treasure Island quotes?

Hands down, greatest pirate movie ever.

Yay for today!

[identity profile] twirlynoodle.livejournal.com 2006-09-19 10:56 pm (UTC)(link)
IT IS the greatest pirate movie EVER! You and your friends are CORRECT!

[identity profile] stevie-roch.livejournal.com 2006-09-20 12:05 am (UTC)(link)
"Don't run with scissors. It's all fun and games, until somebody loses an EAAAGHK."

I was singing Cabin Fever the other day. "We've got cabin fever, no ifs ands or buts. We're disoriented, demented, and a little nuts!"

(Anonymous) 2006-09-20 01:51 am (UTC)(link)
At my school today, they were actually playing songs from 'Muppet Treasure Island' and only my friend and I were singing...it was a little sad (for them-not me, of course)

Aah, fond memories of seeing that in the theatre...

[identity profile] disneyboy.livejournal.com 2006-09-20 06:43 am (UTC)(link)
I love that movie! And his character in particular! "Jim Jimmy Jim" (etc.) reminds me of an admittedly inferior pirate movie - about a year before "Treasure Planet" was released, but was largely finished, Jim was this sullen rebelious teen, headed to juvenile hall or worse (later Eisner insisted he was annoying and unlikeable, and needed to be reanimated in a few scenes to have his attitude slightly adjusted - you be the judge if he was right) - I always thought it was hilarious that Silver would call him "Jimbo" - shouldn't that have just driven him crazy? "C'mere, Jimbo, me little Jimbo" "It's JIM! Just JIM, ok?!""Oh, whatever you say, Jimbo!"

[identity profile] twirlynoodle.livejournal.com 2006-09-20 04:46 pm (UTC)(link)
... That would have added a lot to the character(s) ...

Though all the squabbling amongst characters and plotlines for supremacy just left the field clear for Doppler to take over. :D

Speak to someone, they need to release it widescreen, not full frame.

[identity profile] twirlynoodle.livejournal.com 2006-09-20 10:13 pm (UTC)(link)
They did. (http://www.amazon.com/Muppet-Treasure-Island-Kermits-50th-Anniversary-/dp/B000ATQYTC/sr=8-1/qid=1158790343/ref=pd_bbs_1/103-3375397-1643847?ie=UTF8&s=dvd)

Scroll down to the special features.

So . . . .

[identity profile] noodledaddy.livejournal.com 2006-09-20 10:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Why haven't I received it yet?

[identity profile] twirlynoodle.livejournal.com 2006-09-20 10:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Because my memory is as porous as a leaky longboat?

I could ask the same question; I believe it was on my Christmas wishlist last year.... [ahemahemahem]

[identity profile] noodledaddy.livejournal.com 2006-09-20 10:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Tell you what, give me back one or more of your presents from last year, I'll give you the movie, and then I'll borrow it. EVERYBODY WINS!

[identity profile] disneyboy.livejournal.com 2006-09-21 08:45 pm (UTC)(link)
You two are really disfunctional, you know that? ;)

[identity profile] disneyboy.livejournal.com 2006-09-21 01:04 am (UTC)(link)
What??? Are you serious? Who does that (releases ONLY a full-frame dvd of a film) anymore? Good grief...

[identity profile] noodledaddy.livejournal.com 2006-09-21 02:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Just watched it last night and a very familiar logo with a castle appears at the beginning of the flick.

[identity profile] disneyboy.livejournal.com 2006-09-21 08:43 pm (UTC)(link)
(sigh) I know...sometimes being an unofficial representative for Disney is not fun!

wait a minute...

[identity profile] disneyboy.livejournal.com 2006-09-20 06:58 am (UTC)(link)
Isn't it "Jim, Jimmy Jim, Jimmy Jim Jim Jim"? Or have I been wrong all these years? (oh NO!)

[identity profile] twirlynoodle.livejournal.com 2006-09-20 04:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Depends if you're thinking of when Billy Bones is accidentally talking to Gonzo or when he turns his attention to the real Jim...

[identity profile] disneyboy.livejournal.com 2006-09-21 01:02 am (UTC)(link)
ah...well, whichever one makes me right, that's what I must have been thinking of. ;)

(Anonymous) 2006-09-20 06:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, HELL, Billy Connolly how I do adore thee. Seriously, just say the word and I'll give my life up to live in a bush outside your house.

Also, that film? Is amazing. *grin*
Abs x

(Anonymous) 2006-09-20 09:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Amen!

[identity profile] azvolrien.livejournal.com 2006-09-21 08:41 pm (UTC)(link)
That film is the best pirate film ever. Eat your heart out, Mr. Sparrow.

[identity profile] twirlynoodle.livejournal.com 2006-09-21 08:42 pm (UTC)(link)
INDEED! Tim Curry POONS! (hehe)

[identity profile] azvolrien.livejournal.com 2006-09-22 09:07 pm (UTC)(link)
*snerk*

'poons'?
I've always pronounced it 'pwins'.
(yes, I did catch the Discworld reference. Master Pratchett's doing a book signing in Glasgow soon. One of my mum's students, a lad named Christopher Downey, is going to it.)
