I had always planned to reread Half-Blood Prince... I just thought I'd manage to do it before the seventh book came out. Luckily I probably won't get a copy till Monday so I have all weekend, but I'm getting a bit of a head start because I have a long boring walk every day.

Is it just me, or did the 'stage direction' of the Spinners End scene make it sound like an archaic, heavily codified melodramatic performance? Narcissa should have laid the back of her hand on her forehead and swooned at some point.

I reread the book last month and the whole scene did seem melodramatic, what with Cissy crying and Bella being angry. I had this image in my head of that soap opera shot where two people are talking but both facing the camera, with Narcissa crying to Snape's back and Snape facing the direction of the camera, a snarl poised on his face before saying, "I think you were looking for...STEVEN, MY EVIL TWIN BROTHER!"

LOL, this might have to make it into my illustration series. Though I cannot picture Narcissa as anyone but Makani's version of her ... I'll have to ask her if I can use it for this.
