I had always planned to reread Half-Blood Prince... I just thought I'd manage to do it before the seventh book came out. Luckily I probably won't get a copy till Monday so I have all weekend, but I'm getting a bit of a head start because I have a long boring walk every day.

Is it just me, or did the 'stage direction' of the Spinners End scene make it sound like an archaic, heavily codified melodramatic performance? Narcissa should have laid the back of her hand on her forehead and swooned at some point.

Hehe. I've just finished reading Half-Blood Prince last night. I was up ti about 3 o'clock in morning. =P

I'd just like to add that I too was wondering whether you would be doing some new illustrations for Deathly Hallows.
I simply can't wait and am also saddened that it is indeed the end. =(

You... are making me cackle madly. That scene was always the stuff of genius, but a swooning Narcissa would be the perfect finishing touch. XDDDDD

I was honestly expecting her to swoon at some point. Quite shocked she didn't in fact.

I tried to reread HBP, but--and perhaps this was just my mood at the time--I got halfway through Spinner's End and realized I cared more about the Muggle Prime Minister than any of the other characters.

Swooning Narcissa might have revived my dying interest.

I reread the book last month and the whole scene did seem melodramatic, what with Cissy crying and Bella being angry. I had this image in my head of that soap opera shot where two people are talking but both facing the camera, with Narcissa crying to Snape's back and Snape facing the direction of the camera, a snarl poised on his face before saying, "I think you were looking for...STEVEN, MY EVIL TWIN BROTHER!"

LOL, this might have to make it into my illustration series. Though I cannot picture Narcissa as anyone but Makani's version of her ... I'll have to ask her if I can use it for this.

I timed my rereading of 4, 5, and 6 so that I finished HBP yesterday afternoon. Ten points! It was much funnier the second time round.

At least with all the stage direction, they'll get that bit of movie 6 exactly right!

I anticipated my desire to reread HBP and started a few weeks ago, read a chapter or two before bed for several weeks, and have finished early! Finally, my planning has paid off. Now I wish I had reread OoTP and the end of GoF... and of course I have neither book in my apartment. Curses!

Just thought if you don't get around to reading it all before The Deathly Hallows comes out, there's a handy little resource here:

with pretty good chapter summaries.

YAY!!! Welcome back to Harry Potter we missed you terribly!! Haha! I thought the same thing when I read it. I love their exaderated (can't spell) positions, especially Narcissa's hands.

I think for me, the only thing missing from this picture is Bellatrix in the background with one of those "wickedly gleeful" theatre masks on. Laughing maniacally!

Killing two birds with one stone, I agreed with your other post about temptation and googling. For HBP I was horribly spoiled by some twot on LJ who posted the Page of Importance on a community, so this year I've gone out of my way to avoid all tosspots who would spoil me, and just stick to friends et al. It's the last book, why would you want to ruin it for yourself?

Question, however. Is reading a copy of the book online technically spoiling yourself? I think it's horrible to the author, as she doesn't get the royalties, and I'd never do it myself, but many a person has complained about the photo-ed book, saying that it's ruining the ending for people, and I just don't get how. Unless they turn to the last photo or something. It's not like saying "AARRGG! How much did it suck when Harry died and Voldemort took over the world and painted pink bunnies in the sky! WOE!!!" (Haven't read the last book, if it turns out that's the ending, sorry! But I doubt it.) and putting it on LJ.

I'm just glad this is all over, and we can carry on with out lives now. No more waiting, or guessing. Just plain ol' fact. Huzzah!

No, I don't suppose reading the whole book whether it be online or on paper is technically a spoiler for yourself, but people who, say, post the Important Pages on other sites or just blab about what they read may bear more blame for spoilerage.

By the way ... I really want to draw that ending.

They bear all the blame for spoilerage! Thankfully I am spoiler free, have read the book and am sorely dissapointed for lack of pink bunnies. 'Twould have awesome, and my respect for JKR would have increased!

Oh, then draw away with my blessing! And enjoy.
