Rain, Rain, Rain

WOW, IT'S RAINING.

Just as well, as I was hardly feeling the Christmas spirit. Christmas = precipitation, apparently.

Boy, it doesn't rain much here, but when it does ... Whew! Usually my raincoat is enough to repel the most diligent of storms but it was completely trounced today.

Mostly I'm just writing because I am at the library (new item for my 'locations' collection!) and forgot to take home my printed reference for my work-to-do-while-I'm-away-from-work-working. And the sketchbook pages are just damp enough that it makes my pencil just that little bit annoyingly hard. I ought to get home and eat something but I am wet, home does not have a furnace, and the library does.

Oh, L-Space ... how I love you. Have a banana.

Except don't, because the sign over there says

NO FOOD PLEASE

WE HAVE

ANTS

Those must be some ants.

Also, motoring public: please turn your lights on when it is raining, even if it is daytime. A shiny grey car against a shiny grey road is surprisingly invisible, especially when everyone else has their lights on. (Living in a country with standard running lights has spoiled me so ...)

Are you saying that in normal, rainy places, the rain isn't as intense as is is here?

[identity profile] sydpad.livejournal.com 2007-12-19 08:28 am (UTC)(link)
Normal rain is like having water fall on you in drops. LA rain is like being UNDERWATER.

LOL! "Bless you, Ants... BLANTS!" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7LqYBncyKpM)

So I guess molasses are out of the question?!

It's been really frosty here recently. No snow yet, but it only feels like Christmas with a hard frost. The graveyard was beautiful.

...Ants? Well, I can't blame them for being indoors at this time of year.

The place where I live in SoCal got snow last week, and it's been raining most of this. We've got a gap under our door, but it's raised several inches, but this time it rained enough that the water rose up and came thru the gap and got all the carpets wet for our convenience.

And on behalf of American Motorists Everywhere, I hereby pledge to remember to turn our lights on unless we forget.

Good point, that, about headlights.

I know in Iceland you have to always drive with your headlights on since the weather changes every 3 seconds. (We have samples, not weather)

I love California when it snows, but then the next day, there's snow all over the ground, but bright sunny skies. It only lasts a couple hours, I'll try and take a proper picture, next time it happens (it's all melted by now).

Any one ever seen that?

It was raining yesterday like crazy. So hard a branch from out front lawn tree fell off. If it would have been the other side of the tree, it would have fallen on our SVU and my parents would have gone berserk. XD

But then like a few hrs later it got all sunny and hot. It was weird. :/

Technically, you have to have your lights on when using your windshield wipers. It's the law. Not that everyone always follows the law. Myself included :coughSPEEDINGcough:

Yeah, I thought of you yesterday when I woke up to the delicious sounds of rain, remembering what you said on Sunday.

So did you go to Disneyand? :)

Not yet. I'm going on Saturday and on the 29th, though. ^___^

This has absolutely NOTHING to do with anything

BUT I SO NEEDED TO SHOW THIS TO YOU!

Check out part two, also. The part after the running is amazing.

Rain

Well, when I looked through the window this morning I couldn't believe what I saw! oO
It's snowing, everything is white! O_O
Yesterday it was raining here, too, so I was very surprised...

By the way, I'm totally in your opinion (or so...? ^^°). I HATE it when the cars don't have the lights turned on...
