Halloween Costume

... and I get to wear it again tonight!

[identity profile] uberklutz.livejournal.com 2008-11-01 08:19 pm (UTC)(link)
NO WAY!!!! :O
THAT'S FRIGGIN' AWESOME!

[identity profile] uberklutz.livejournal.com 2008-11-01 08:21 pm (UTC)(link)
(would that be a costume you would wear to the disc con?) *dances with anticipation!*

[identity profile] twirlynoodle.livejournal.com 2008-11-01 08:29 pm (UTC)(link)
I ... would wear it ... if there was a Disc Con near me that I knew about. Might wear it to next year's ComiCon, though, if I'm still in town.

[identity profile] uberklutz.livejournal.com 2008-11-02 10:17 pm (UTC)(link)
if you're still "in town" would you go to the first North American Discworld Con? It wouldn't be too far from you if you're in LA. haha, like, only a two day drive. :P

[identity profile] danicarip.livejournal.com 2008-11-01 08:31 pm (UTC)(link)
MY REACTION IS NOT UNAKIN TO YOURS!!!

[identity profile] fani.livejournal.com 2008-11-01 08:31 pm (UTC)(link)
*frowns*

*is jealous*

*wibble*

I would have been Joo Dee (http://avatar.wikia.com/wiki/Joo_Dee) if I can actually sew. And anyway did you sew this by yourself?

[identity profile] twirlynoodle.livejournal.com 2008-11-01 08:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Yep. The coat, anyway. Well, and the gaiters, but they're not in the picture because they look weird when they're not on. The vest and pants are from a thrift shop and the shirt, cravat, and shoes I had already.

[identity profile] fani.livejournal.com 2008-11-01 08:58 pm (UTC)(link)
I MUST NOW SUCK YOUR BRAIN SO I CAN SEW

OM NOM NOM?

[identity profile] twirlynoodle.livejournal.com 2008-11-01 09:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Haha, it's all the frippery on the coat that makes it look good. None of the seams are straight and the shoulders are a mess. But seriously, just find a simple pattern (skirts are good to start with) and work from there... I learned most of what I know by following the instructions on patterns.

[identity profile] ardys-the-ghoul.livejournal.com 2008-11-01 08:37 pm (UTC)(link)
OH MY GOD THAT IS AWESOME!!!

That is seriously the coolest costume I have seen in my entire life.

I didn't get to dress up this year *is sad*, but even if I had, there is NO WAY it could have compared to your costume. I am seriously envious, I would never have thought of that--best I could do is generic vampire.

[identity profile] twirlynoodle.livejournal.com 2008-11-01 08:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Unfortunately it was the vampire part that failed for me; powder doesn't work for the complexion, my widow's peak kept smudging, and the teeth I'd bought at the last minute absolutely did not fit at all. Next time I might just have to fork over the $17 for the veneers ... it still strikes me as way too much but it seems like less of a difference now for how much better they would have worked.

[identity profile] ardys-the-ghoul.livejournal.com 2008-11-02 04:23 am (UTC)(link)
I think I could do the complexion, I'm very fair-skinned, but the teeth would admittedly be a problem. Technically, you could probably do without them--don't vampires' fangs shrink when they stop drinking blood, or am I remembering wrong?

[identity profile] twirlynoodle.livejournal.com 2008-11-02 04:33 am (UTC)(link)
I think, depending on the mythology, vampires' fangs extend when they've got the bloodlust on ... in fact I think there's a mention of that in Monstrous Regiment when Maladict loses it. I was going to use that as an argument in my defense if anyone had challenged me, but it would have been so much easier to just have obvious vampirey teeth. It doesn't help that my orthodontist removed my peg teeth and filed down my canines, either ...

[identity profile] ardys-the-ghoul.livejournal.com 2008-11-03 02:08 am (UTC)(link)
Wow, your an orthodontical victim, too? Mine did a crap job and I ended up with a weird underbite. He only filed my front teeth, though, not my canines, which ended up weirdly sharp because I chew on pens. So, I guess I could pass as a vampire, now I think of it...

[identity profile] dried-frog-pill.livejournal.com 2008-11-01 09:30 pm (UTC)(link)
That is beyond cool and probably one of the best costumes ever :Db

[identity profile] mizlobelia.livejournal.com 2008-11-01 11:12 pm (UTC)(link)
That SO rocks! Have a coffee for me!

[identity profile] aspectabund.livejournal.com 2008-11-01 11:28 pm (UTC)(link)
!

Do you bring a coffee cup with you?

[identity profile] twirlynoodle.livejournal.com 2008-11-02 12:04 am (UTC)(link)
I did bring my percolator in my pack (not pictured). :D

[identity profile] aspectabund.livejournal.com 2008-11-03 05:06 am (UTC)(link)
Hold it. Wait. I just realized: you dressed up as a vampire dressed up as a man dressed up as a soldier? Hardcore.

[identity profile] brendanm720.livejournal.com 2008-11-01 11:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Is that...

A Maladicta costume?

NICE.

[identity profile] trutitipudlian.livejournal.com 2008-11-02 04:04 am (UTC)(link)
I know everyone said this but it really can't be said enough: That's. So. AWESOME!

[identity profile] twirlynoodle.livejournal.com 2008-11-02 04:34 am (UTC)(link)
I really do appreciate it, as only one person recognized the character all day and he only knew it from my drawings... :)

[identity profile] azvolrien.livejournal.com 2008-11-02 02:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Sweet.

[identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/__lys_fleurx__/ 2008-11-02 08:02 pm (UTC)(link)
which one are you? Polly?

[identity profile] octaveleap.livejournal.com 2008-11-03 01:14 am (UTC)(link)
Sorry I'm late to reply - but that is FANTASTIC! I bet you were an awesome Maladict :^D (though I wish I coulda seen you in the fangs and with the widow's peak, too!)

[identity profile] packy.livejournal.com 2008-11-03 03:13 am (UTC)(link)
That is indeed a spiffo costume.

[identity profile] erincalenear.livejournal.com 2008-11-03 07:14 am (UTC)(link)
Oh freaking a, I wish I was awesome enough to pull off a Maladicta costume like this!

[identity profile] meganphntmgrl.livejournal.com 2008-11-03 08:55 pm (UTC)(link)
That. Is. AWESOME. I should have pinned a black ribbon to my Magda costume, seeing as she's drifting toward the movement in RP land anyway.

Oh, that's brilliant. The hat! With the cheese on! Great, now I need to find a pattern for a military jacket... *sigh*

[identity profile] zehbrah.livejournal.com 2008-11-04 02:58 pm (UTC)(link)
I really wish I had something original to say in this comment, but I had to comment on this and so I will be lame and say OMGTHISCOSTUMEISSOAWESOME! The black ribbon is an excellent touch!

[identity profile] priscellie.livejournal.com 2008-11-04 04:11 pm (UTC)(link)
*goggles* WOW. Do you have any photos of yourself in the costume?

[identity profile] mildlyconfused.livejournal.com 2008-11-08 02:06 am (UTC)(link)
This is ten kinds of awesome. At least.

Say, I've been watching you for about 8 years now (", she said, sounding like one creepy-ass stalker) and was around at the EP in the olden days.

Mind if I friend you?

[identity profile] twirlynoodle.livejournal.com 2008-11-08 02:08 am (UTC)(link)
Friend away! Nice to see someone from the old EP in these parts...

[identity profile] mildlyconfused.livejournal.com 2008-11-08 02:23 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I kinda miss that place. I remember almost falling off my chair when I discovered that you were posting there, too. Well, not quite. But I was 15 and your HP art page was what got me into drawing (true story. I now study Graphic Design with high ambitions for a career as an illustrator, so thanks. :)), and I suppose a tendency to fangirl anything within a three-mile radius is genetically programmed into 15 year-olds.

I've come across Tannhäuser's lj a few weeks back, and it is so great to see the progress in the work. *sigh, nostalgia*

[identity profile] purlicue.livejournal.com 2008-11-11 06:03 am (UTC)(link)
THIS?

Is AMAZING.
