New Life for the Lenten Sketchbook

I wanted to do the page-a-day sketchbook thing again this year but I know I do not and will not have time for that. I've decided, instead, to post a drawing a day, and if I don't get a new one done then I will have to dig up an old one that I have never scanned before. There aren't very many of those so this could get quite entertaining the further back I have to go.

Drawing #1 was easy: this was my doodle page on my desk for months, then I took it home with the intention of scanning it but it ended up getting kicked around my bedroom floor for an equal amount of time. Please disregard the dead Mickey, that was for an animation assignment (no joke).

ISIHAC LIVES AGAIN - This is FAR too joyous news for Ash Wednesday!

"Disregard the dead Mickey" she says... Sorry, I can't do that when my eyes keep trailing to it and I can't stop cracking up.

I love Orwellie and Lulu! Very Helquisty.

you have no idea how excited I am for this!

[identity profile] moonmystique.livejournal.com 2009-02-25 05:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Hay you're not allowed to erase things off the page, that's cheating B|

But I like 8)

[identity profile] twirlynoodle.livejournal.com 2009-02-25 05:41 pm (UTC)(link)
That was a little bit of a character from Frog who was under the Mickey – I figured a little paranoia and keeping on the good side of Disney was of more value than full honest disclosure. :)

[identity profile] twirlynoodle.livejournal.com 2009-02-25 05:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Hey, aren't you supposed to be coming down here soon?

[identity profile] moonmystique.livejournal.com 2009-02-25 05:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Tomorrow!!! Omg, so excited 8)
Do you want any delicious snacks like coffee crisp, or smarties or ketchup chips, which I heard don't exist in the States? x)

[identity profile] moonmystique.livejournal.com 2009-02-25 05:55 pm (UTC)(link)
And Kinder Eggs, bwuahaha!

[identity profile] twirlynoodle.livejournal.com 2009-02-25 05:57 pm (UTC)(link)
OMG YES!

If you have time to get to a grocery store, #1 on my list is Twinings blackcurrant tea - the actual blackcurrant flavoured tea, not the herbal kind; it comes in little purple sachets...? But yeah I think I might possibly faint from joy for some Coffee Crisp. :D

[identity profile] moonmystique.livejournal.com 2009-02-25 06:01 pm (UTC)(link)
It shall be done!
I don't know which tea it is though, I googled and it looks like there's a few different packages: http://images.google.ca/images?q=Twinings%20blackcurrant%20tea&oe=utf-8&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a&um=1&ie=UTF-8&sa=N&hl=en&tab=wi

And what stores carry it?

[identity profile] twirlynoodle.livejournal.com 2009-02-25 06:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Ooh, that first one, the Blackcurrant Black Tea. Amazon has it? Gasp! I wonder if I'd ever be able to get through 120 teabags before they went stale...

I don't know if you have Save-On or Overwaitea near you but I know they have it ... I wasn't able to find it at Safeway when I was up there last but it might have been a fault of that location.

[identity profile] moonmystique.livejournal.com 2009-02-25 06:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Hmm, I've never heard of those, but I'll see if I can check the grocery stores round here for it 8)

[identity profile] moonmystique.livejournal.com 2009-02-25 11:49 pm (UTC)(link)
The tea has been found! :O

[identity profile] twirlynoodle.livejournal.com 2009-02-25 11:50 pm (UTC)(link)
And there was much rejoicing!! Lemme know how much I owe you...

[identity profile] moonmystique.livejournal.com 2009-02-26 12:06 am (UTC)(link)
it'll be a gift 8)

My mom searched a bunch of stores though, she never gives up with things like this o_o

[identity profile] twirlynoodle.livejournal.com 2009-02-26 12:10 am (UTC)(link)
Awww, thank her for me please! And thank you!

[identity profile] copperbadge.livejournal.com 2009-02-25 06:50 pm (UTC)(link)
STEPHEN FRY IS THE NEW HUMPH. Well, co-Humph.

I think we need to hold a Mornington Crescent game soon, to celebrate.

I feel *just* like Mickey Mouse in that sketch today... passing out all over the place like a narcolept! I decided to kick the caffeine habit for Lent this year. It's gonna be hell on Earth! :P

"This is FAR too joyous news for Ash Wednesday!"
I spent the whole day, even all of mass sitting there next to my boss, giggling for no reason, too!

[identity profile] twirlynoodle.livejournal.com 2009-02-25 08:30 pm (UTC)(link)
I have a friend who once (before I met her) decided to give up caffeine for Lent, but by halfway through, all her friends and family were begging her to take it back up again because it was too hard for all of them.

Re: giggling: Low blood sugar? :)

[identity profile] canisdoofus.livejournal.com 2009-02-26 02:13 pm (UTC)(link)
LOL! I fear that's what's gonna happen top me as well. Though half of my friends were the ones responsible for suggesting I give up caffeine for any reason! I'm very naturally hyper, so the drug tends to heighten that even more.

I don't know why I was giggling so much yesterday. I think it had something to do with my significant other driving back home from school for his birthday yesterday. But hypoglycemia could also be a factor.

[identity profile] hobbitnat.livejournal.com 2009-02-25 10:23 pm (UTC)(link)
gee poor Mick never seen it comin'

I like the idea of seeing a drawing a day from you! yay!!! I am excited now! :D I love your character designs!

p.s. you hear about Robert Downey Jr. Playing Sherlock!? I think i like that idea, although though he's very short... Jude Law makes a good Watson though...

[identity profile] twirlynoodle.livejournal.com 2009-02-25 10:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Urgh, everything about that production rubs me the wrong way, but I realised upon listening to Digi Radio yesterday that if I think of them instead as Rutherford Lodge and Irish, they actually work quite well.

[identity profile] twirlynoodle.livejournal.com 2009-02-25 10:33 pm (UTC)(link)
On second thought maybe not Irish. But Rutherford Lodge totally works. I wish Guy Ritchie would have just gone and made a Rutherford Lodge movie instead of mucking about with Holmes. :P

[identity profile] hobbitnat.livejournal.com 2009-02-26 03:11 am (UTC)(link)
Hmm I can't say I'm really familiar with either :( are they stories? I'm just excited in general I think that someone is making Holmes at all.

[identity profile] twirlynoodle.livejournal.com 2009-02-26 05:30 am (UTC)(link)
Listen to the link in the previous entry and then you will. Though that particular story is not ... exactly ... rated G.

Here's a visual aide!

LOL! "bugger me!" lol! oh man this was awesome! do these come on like every week or something? haha I love how wittle timmy has a Mickey Mouse voice lol!, and still not sure what the Gollum thing is all about haha!

"What were these men doing!?"
"MINCING!"
man-woman

oh dear amazing! even the skits in between, I think i will go play the chair now.
So is the picture of Lodge and Irish?

haha thanks for sharing that it was hilarious!

[identity profile] twirlynoodle.livejournal.com 2009-02-27 01:16 am (UTC)(link)
That was the last in the first series. There's the second series starting next week (same time, same place) but I was amazed how ... not brilliant it was. There was one Lodge story that was okay (the Adventure of the Rose-Coloured Glasses) but the rest of the show just didn't have that sparkle.

Yep, that's Lodge and Irish. I drew that a couple years ago and am amazed at how much it still matches my mental image of them, though I might make Lodge's moustache a little larger just for aesthetics.

ISIHAC!

It won't be the same without Humphrey, but--ISIHAC!

Also, Georgina Orwell hohoho! I need to reread every clever book from my childhood looking for stuff like that.

[identity profile] avorpalllama.livejournal.com 2009-02-26 04:11 am (UTC)(link)
A drawing a day is not a bad idea. It's the sort of thing i've always said i would do and never have. Perhaps i will give up not doing it for Lent, a holiday that i have never, ever observed before!

... when does lent start?

[identity profile] avorpalllama.livejournal.com 2009-02-26 04:12 am (UTC)(link)
also, those drawings are sweet :)

[identity profile] avorpalllama.livejournal.com 2009-02-26 06:13 am (UTC)(link)
hooray!
i have already done my one drawing! I'm a good lent observer :)

[identity profile] twirlynoodle.livejournal.com 2009-02-26 06:25 am (UTC)(link)
LOL, that's awesome! And that's like ... FOUR drawings!
