A Triple-Header!

First up: UBIQUITOUSPITT IS AN ANGEL! She has put together this wonderful page to house all our Master & Commander madness. Madness I tell you! Have I mentioned she's far better at web design than me?

The Surprise Sails 'Round the Bend

Then, if that madness wasn't enough, I have completed my entry for The Enchanted Paintbrush's Tabloid Contest:

I'll be officially posting this closer to the due date (July 9) ... any brilliant suggestions before then will be accepted.

2:47 am
Good heavens, it's almost 3 am. This may explain some of the unfunny humour found in these icons:

"Orangutan Replaces Hogwarts Librarian": BRILLIANT.

And I like Quirrell's hat.

[identity profile] canisdoofus.livejournal.com 2005-06-30 12:17 pm (UTC)(link)
What she ^ said...

And you know what else is brilliant?? That take on J.L. David's "Madame Recamier" on the Surprise page! I love it!

[identity profile] thorn-of-blood.livejournal.com 2005-06-30 01:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Trouble is I could imaging this appearing in a Muggle corner shop.

[identity profile] buttfacemakani.livejournal.com 2005-06-30 05:29 pm (UTC)(link)

[identity profile] salamandersoup.livejournal.com 2005-06-30 06:16 pm (UTC)(link)
BWAHAHAHAH! You're going to win for sure. I SO want a copy of that tabloid now.

The HMS Suprise ... your MADE that!? [googly eyes]

[identity profile] twirlynoodle.livejournal.com 2005-06-30 07:08 pm (UTC)(link)
No, Ubiquitouspitt made it ... because she is brilliant.

[identity profile] gabbysun.livejournal.com 2005-06-30 06:27 pm (UTC)(link)
OH. MY.

I love the website like ANYTHING. Oh, gosh, I love those books. And the movie was darn good too, 'cept I liked the soundtrack better. ;D

About your tabloid thing; I think your idea is brilliant. And this is a very small suggestion, but you could make the picture of Quirrell more distorted? Like it was taken illicitly. :O I love it though; so flashy! If I saw it on my grocery store's magazine rack, I'd totally get it. ;D And OMG YOU REFERENCED DISCWORLD YOU WIN!

. . . where is this "I 'AVE A CUNNING PLAN LOL" coming from? :(

[identity profile] twirlynoodle.livejournal.com 2005-06-30 07:10 pm (UTC)(link)
It's from the Blackadder TV series ... in it is a character named Baldrick (who could have been the inspiration for Nobby, if you want an idea of character) who, in every episode, upon the protagonist finding himself in a jam, says "I 'ave a cunning plan!"

[identity profile] gabbysun.livejournal.com 2005-06-30 07:21 pm (UTC)(link)
. . . just out of curiousity, does he?

[identity profile] twirlynoodle.livejournal.com 2005-06-30 07:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Who, Baldrick? Or Lucky Jack? Jack always has a plan. Baldrick's cunning plans usually run along the lines of 'We'll escape from prison by dressing up as Robin Hood'...

[identity profile] gabbysun.livejournal.com 2005-06-30 07:45 pm (UTC)(link)
That's not a bad plan, just an illogical one.

. . .

No, I take that back.

It's a pretty bad plan. *pats Baldrick on head*

Tee-Hee...

[identity profile] carpe-diem99.livejournal.com 2005-06-30 07:47 pm (UTC)(link)
BLOODY BRILIANT!!! You're sure to win. And the extra diskworld reference- genious! even I, who hates tabloids, would buy this!

Re: Tee-Hee...

[identity profile] twirlynoodle.livejournal.com 2005-07-01 06:07 pm (UTC)(link)
I actually might even write an article to go with that secondary headline... it's been bouncing around in my brain. I'm just afraid I would make it sound too credible.

[identity profile] ubiquitouspitt.livejournal.com 2005-06-30 09:59 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't know how I managed to miss this in the first place - but Quirrel looks remarkably, well - remarcably Marcish! Wheee!

And I am not an angel. I am selfish. I am inexpressibly and deeply honoured just to have my artwork featured on the same page as yours.

It has been a very eventful 24 hours, indeed!

[identity profile] twirlynoodle.livejournal.com 2005-06-30 10:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Y'know, I was thinking of that ... most especially that if we switched places I might get Marc to put on some baggy shorts and sit in this position so that I could see how the wrinkles worked. I don't have any skinny men at my disposal, alas...

[identity profile] ubiquitouspitt.livejournal.com 2005-07-01 02:02 am (UTC)(link)
When he's legally mine, I'll see about renting him out.

My Two Pence

Overall - Marvelous. I would spin the "Back from the Grave" counterclockwise about 15 degrees and/or give it a Starburst pattern.

Just one question as well, a person who regualrly bought this mag, then went to court to recover his expenses once he realized it was all fake . . would this mag call the case a Seer Sucker Suit?

[identity profile] anathelen.livejournal.com 2005-07-01 04:13 am (UTC)(link)
I want a straw pointed hat.

I love it!

(Anonymous) 2005-07-01 09:47 pm (UTC)(link)
I would deffently buy it! And I love the Discworld references!

[identity profile] miss-ida.livejournal.com 2005-07-03 03:22 pm (UTC)(link)

[identity profile] miss-ida.livejournal.com 2005-07-04 04:42 pm (UTC)(link)

(Anonymous) 2005-07-05 03:16 pm (UTC)(link)

[identity profile] twirlynoodle.livejournal.com 2005-07-05 05:17 pm (UTC)(link)
OH! You mean .. .the tabloid thing! Haha. Mind like a steel trap, me. Yeah, maybe. Quirrell is fun to draw.

(Stop giggling, Ubiquitouspitt!)

I was actually thinking of writing up an article to go with the secondary headline ... if I get time.
