Lily Potter - I think I may be getting a little closer. Her nose is a bit long, but she doesn't look as weird as my previous Lilys.
Whatcha Readin'? - Eponine bugs Marius. There are many problems, age being among them, but ... meh.

2:50 pm - Making Connections
I just finally realised that the character who I'm reminded of by the male lead from Corpse Bride is Wiggins from Pocahontas. That has been bugging me for months.

Also, Lily looks very much like a character I'd worked on for a friend's project a couple years ago, aside from the hair. Considering I am not an anime artist, I must redress this. (Ooh, burn!)

She's actually based surprisingly closely on the Eponine I saw last fall – I'd never really liked the character before but that actress (where is my programme?) really brought a lot of charm to her. I drew that Eponine a week or so ago and then went to look up something that took me to a page with he touring cast on it and was surprised how much of her face I'd actually captured.

marius=nerd in love: hair like a visor (see 'john dearheart' upside-down for effects) no manly jaw, big, bright eyes, freckles, and a slightly hooked/overall up-angled nose, like a hawk, but more in the 'overall nerdy' arena. this is possible, ive done it. 'ponine...well, we like her, pity her maybe. she has to look at least somewhat pretty, tone down the nose a bit, maybe. maybe.

I am in no way authorized to give you advice, but...shouldn't Lily's eyes be the same shape as Harry's? I know it's hard to do that and still make her look like a pretty female. Also...her eyebrow (and perhaps her eye, as well) seem to be veeeeeeeeery close to her ear.

But, like I said, I'm really not authorized to critique your work for small errors, as you're a billion times better than me. But, I thought I'd give you my two cents anyway :)

Aha, see, that is where I always got hung up before: I'd start with the eyes, trying to make them look like Harry's, and the rest of the design would be absolutely horrendous. This time I figured I'd get the rest of the face right, get the eyes as close as possible but not obsess over them, and then when I got a design I liked overall, I'd worry about the eyes then. I'd have to make them a little more feminine than Harry's, and these are roughly the same shape just with more emphatic eyelashes, but you're right, they should be obviously the same as Harry's. Now that I've gotten out of the Bad Lily Rut, I may work on that.

Oh my gosh! You're right; Wiggins! He even has an ugly dog!...Hmm, haven't seen Pocahontas in yeeears.

Oh, and the pictures, as always, are lovely. Awwww, Eponine is so cute there! When people ask you what you're reading, you tend to be half annoyed at them for interrupting and half ready to enthuse about how great the book is, but then they lose interest. I can so imagine her doing that ^_^

I think the age gap can be accounted for in the Marius/Eponine because of the different lives they've led and such, maybe? If we're all up for making excuses and all. :D She is an old youth.
