Bad Bridesmaid
For the sake of my sanity, I took some time out to draw today. (Work doesn't count.)

Quirrell: "It's strange that we should suffer so much fear and doubt over so small a thing ... such a little thing."
Quirrell is starting to look like Lupin's scrawny younger brother. [peeved sigh]
Marius and Eponine: I like it much better than the older one ... it's more of what I was going for. I liked Marius's nose when I drew it but now that I look at it on the screen, it looks a bit too big. Nrgh. I am so losing my touch ... The show I'm on is not very demanding in the anatomy or posing departments and I am totally losing it. Can't wait for life drawing to start. And for me to get enough free time to work on my own stuff, namely ill-fated clacksmen, if I ever work up the nerve and motivation to resume the blasted thing.
I need something cathartic...

I think perhaps it's the nose that makes it so? Lower and pointier would keep them more separate and look more...Quirrellian? Well, that's IMO, of course. It's a great pose, though...

What's your icon from? It's strangely mesmerising..

Yep, the Lexicon says:
Quirinus is the name given on the Trading Card, which according to Wizards of the Coast™ came from Rowling. This can't be confirmed as canon at this point, however.

As to Marius, it was the opinion of the late G. K. Chesterton, as given (for instance) in The Napoleon of Notting Hill, that BIG NOZES REWL!!!! I may not be quoting exactly.

Beautiful work!

I apologize for being blind, but what exactly is in Quirrel's hand? The ring? The Sorceror's/Philosopher's Stone? I can't tell.

And I've been meaning to tell you, lovely godess Taelin, that you're responsible for getting me many odd looks in school and on the bus... after you mentioned the whole bus-drawing thing on that picture of Hagrid and Harry in the boat, I've been drawing people from behind. Everywhere. Today I drew about 4 people in various classes, two random girls on my bus, and my busdriver by watching her in the mirror....
Thanks a lot. Now people think I'm some weird stalker ;p
On a brighter note, I AM getting much better at eyes/noses/etc...

1. Everyone deserves a doodle break to save their sanity. What if you cracked from lack of doodling and doodled on the wedding dress??
2.BEST HP/LOTR CROSSOVER EVER!...Or maybe not. But it's damn well up in the top 5 ^_^
3. Oh my gosh, he DOES look like young!Lupin. That is very creepy O.o
4.Awwwww! I think this version has increased the cute level. It is very cute! And I like the big nose: very distinctive :)

Hmm, how would one fabricate a LotR/Les Mis crossover?
Quirrel
Quirrel is bugging me though. He is incredibly skinny. Shouldn't the back of his robes be a little farther...back? He looks anerexic or something.
I have no idea who the other characters are, but it's a lovely drawing.
Sorry...everytime I comment your LJ it's always a critique as if it were on EP or something. I'll try to stop that...

I have always pictured Quirrell being really skinny ... his rear might stick out a little more in this pose, you're right, but caricature has to extend past the face, and so with the necessary exaggeration of anatomy, he wouldn't have much bulk.

(Anonymous) 2005-09-02 05:20 pm (UTC)(link)I'm thinking (If you don't mind a suggestion), you say that Lee Ingleby would make a good Quirrel. Why not try to make him look a little more like Lee?

Heh, I tried the whole caricature thing, but as you can see it didn't get far. Not too good at working from memory, I suppose. Or it was a bad drawing day. It sure felt like a bad drawing day – my pencil was really not cooperating.

PS: I used to be commenting as VeronikaMG. Just wanna tell you I finally dragged my lazy butt off to the video shop and bougt a copy of the M&C DVD. And I have watched it a little more than healthy. You are a bad girl for giving me yet another obsession. (Not that I mind terribly, though!)

And I really like the Marius/Eponine drawing. I'll never think of Eponine the same again :)
