Corpse Bride in a Nutshell

Just got back from Corpse Bride ... It was good, but I don't think I was in the right frame of mind for it. (That, or the entire plot was a romantic game of checkers ...) The soundtrack, though ... the soundtrack ... And the character design. I need to study that. The head shapes!

And: THCRAPTH!?

I that good or bad???

Corpse Bride was wonderful. Ok...well, not on the same level that The Nightmare Before Christmas was wonderful, but still. I enjoyed it. Particularly the FORK!attack scene.

Will I sound stupid asking whether you liked it or not?
I'm still not planning on seeing it till it comes to the three dollar theatre, despite what anybody says about it.

Well, like I said, I don't think I was in the right frame of mind. I could tell it was good, and of course visually it was very good, but I found it hard to get into. I'm not sure if this is because I wasn't all there or because it was about 98% romance-centred and I am really not much into the whole romance thing.

Romantic, huh?
Gosh, I wouldn't have thought so by the look of it . . .

It's good to see a review not starting with "OMG!!!" I haven't seen it yet, and I'll have to wait one month or so to see it on theaters, but from the captions and trailer I can see it's visually beautiful ( but still I don't think it will be better that "Nightmare before Christmas") And I love the character's dessign

Anywho, this might cheerup you a bit http://www.toonf.com/discworld.html though I don't know if you knew about it.

came back from seeing it, waited a night to digest it.)

Hmm. Not bad, not bad. I was kinda hoping that Tim Burton had ditched the songs for this one, but they weren't stupid songs and (drumroll) actually had to do with the plot, so that was fine. It was nearly completely shot in a greyscale. I was mildly disturbed by the fact that a half-corpse bride had no idea why poor Victor found her frightening.

Still.. the style and the soundtrack were great! And hey, its a Tim Burton movie, so of COURSE its quite twisted. Out of purest interest, does anyone know any NORMAL movies Burton's directed? The only ones I know are his trademarked quirky ones, like Edward Scissorhands, Nightmare Before Christmas, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, etc.

Hey. I'm Sam. I'm always looking in on your work and had to reply. I thought Corpse Bride was awesome. Loved the character design and the soundtrack. Another wonderful Tim Burton film. Goodbye for now and keep up the good drawing. Wish I could draw that well :P

[identity profile] pippins-nose.livejournal.com 2005-09-27 04:50 am (UTC)(link)
Well, actually Tim Burton doesn't really *do* "normal" movies. That's his thang, you see.

[identity profile] sparrowofjack.livejournal.com 2005-09-28 10:50 pm (UTC)(link)
as i suspected. good old timmy :)

(Anonymous) 2005-09-30 03:47 am (UTC)(link)
I would say the Planet of the APes was his most normal movie... even though most of the characters were big, talking chimpanzees.

Exactly!

Romantic checkers! It describes it perfectly!

And good news to all, some clever person transcribed Victor's piano solo to accessible online music :D

WHOA WHOA WHOA starting here none of your posts have shown up for me!

So, to make up for my lack of comments, IT'S TIME FOR SOME SPAM.

Man, I have yet to see the movie! :( I really love the character designs, though. And the whole concept of stop-motion drives me nuts.
