Most intriguing...

When I opened my Media Player to listen to the dialogue track from the scene I'm currently working on, I was greeted by this:

Windows Media Player ad

When I clicked 'More coverage' it took me to the front page of the NPR website. While I appreciate the plug, it didn't answer why M&C actually made it into some sort of advertising campaign, especially for Lion's Gate, which I'm pretty sure had absolutely nothing to do with the film.

Hm ... all three of those movies have swords in them. Maybe that is a Clue.

Curiouser and curiouser...

The number of people who will recognise my Halloween costume at work has risen to TWO.

The number of people who will not even realise I'm dressed up is still hovering around 30.

Such is life... such is the addiction to fiction.

Numbr of coworkers

So, did they hire someone new or did you just realize that one other person will recognize you?

Just realised. Saw her ears prick up (figuratively) when I mentioned 'Ankh-Morpork.' Teehee.

So you are going as a Discworld character, huh? Am I allowed to throw out a guess? You are going as Angua in her werewolf state.

[identity profile] twirlynoodle.livejournal.com 2005-10-20 02:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Um ... that would involve actually being a wolf ... kind of tricky.

[identity profile] nikitaspy.livejournal.com 2005-10-20 06:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Wolfsuit? With whatever accessories Angua has. I only know her from your drawings.

From reading your LJ I've got a distinct impression that you're not particularily girlish (as in *squee* *LOLZ*) so the character you'd go as would have to be somebody with a bit of a spine.

[identity profile] twirlynoodle.livejournal.com 2005-10-20 07:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Just about any Pratchett female has plenty of spine, really...

Angua isn't a super-hairy-biped kind of werewolf. She actually turns into a wolf. I'm too much of a stickler for that sort of thing to compromise with a wolf suit. Of course, I'm not going to go so far as to take up smoking for Halloween... it's a bit of a fine line, really.

You're being Adora Belle Dearheart, aren't you? Will that be with or without the deadly stiletto heels?

[identity profile] twirlynoodle.livejournal.com 2005-10-21 12:10 am (UTC)(link)
I will be wearing heels, but not stilettos ... I want to survive the day with no paralysis or broken bones, and I'm not about to fork over $60 for a pair of shoes I'd only wear once.

Don't feel too bad! I'm dressing up as Nobokov's Lolita, so only I will know. Let people think whatever they want about your costume. This is Canada, and you're the only Discworld fan here I've heard of 'cept moi.

In addition to swords, they are all angry. Maybe that is a factor?

You are going to take pictures of the Halloween costume and post, right? Right? Right? You can't deny me and my adorable face! :]

I just finished my first Discworld book... I'd been looking at the library for ages as you seemed so fond of it.

The Wee Free Men is one of the best books I've ever read. Which is saying something, as I read nearly every book in my middle school library, and have read nearly all the ones in my current highschool library that are worth reading.

Tiffany was adorible and I want to give the Nac Mac Freele a big group hug.

If you haven't read this one yet, I suggest it. Highly.

Thanks sooooo much for giving me a brand new author to obess over *_* -gives herself 5 days to find Mr. Pratchett's personal email adress and write a long, sappy, loving email-

Excellent! Another convert! Wow, if you think Wee Free Men is the best book you've ever read, Just wait ... Not that it isn't good, it's just ... there are better ones.

I think the Nac Mac Feegle would probably kick you somewhere painful if you tried a big group hug. ; )
