C'est fini!

He went back to his lodgings and had a look at himself in the mirror over the washbasin. A large R, printed in bruise colours, occupied a lot of his forehead.
He stuck a bandage over it.

The Truth, pg 21

My mind is a web of madness.

If you get two out of three, you're doing well...

And now, let us remember the drawings that died to make it all possible...

Those unrelated faces are from a history show I was watching at the time. Yay history!
I spent waaaay more time on this than I should have. And I'm still not happy with William's hair in the front view. But dangit, you just have to draw the line somewhere! (... so to speak ...)

In case anyone is wondering, the non-Truthy elements are FLCL and Red Dwarf. Worth checking out. But more than a little mad. Maaaaad!

Day-um. I got 'em all...

and if my lungs didn't hurt so much, I would have laughed at Rimmer (how the hell do you spell that?)

[identity profile] cunien.livejournal.com 2006-10-10 07:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Lol. This is brilliant!
x.

FLCL and Red Dwarf FTW~! ♥ Haruko looks so cute, I love all of their expressions XD Poor William XD

[identity profile] eveforward.livejournal.com 2006-10-10 08:20 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm sorry for my ignorance, but what does FLCL stand for? :)

[identity profile] chewipaka.livejournal.com 2006-10-10 09:03 pm (UTC)(link)
It's like, Furri Kurri, or something like that...

Just type in FLCL, that's what everyone refers to it as.

[identity profile] twirlynoodle.livejournal.com 2006-10-10 09:07 pm (UTC)(link)
I think it's Furi Curi (which apparently means 'hot curry'?), but with the Japanese R being somewhere between an R and an L, and one of the alphabets being made up of characters for syllables instead of phonemes, it gets written as FLCL (Fu-L/Ri Cu-L/Ri, see?).

[identity profile] eveforward.livejournal.com 2006-10-10 09:20 pm (UTC)(link)
I see! I think :)

[identity profile] bellatella.livejournal.com 2006-10-10 09:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Fooly Cooly! (although, that's how I know of it.) Wikipedia article!!! (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FLCL) Yay!

Eeeeheeheeheeheeheeheeheee. Really, really funny -- and I love your expressions, especially William trying to get the pink-haired girl out of his face already.

I got Rimmer and De Word, but the girl kinda reminds me of Sakura from 'Naruto'. Who's the bearded guy in the sketches?

[identity profile] twirlynoodle.livejournal.com 2006-10-11 08:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Science ruuuuules.

The girl's Haruko from FLCL. If she resembles someone from Naruto, that's news to me ... all I know of the latter is the music video to 'Ninjas of the Night.' Which is awesome. But doesn't really have a girl in it.

The bearded guy is a volunteer shield tester in that history show, which was about Anglo-Saxon shields. He had an interesting profile.

Doesn't it though? ^_^

Heh, I saw 'Ninjas of the Night' -- hilarious. The two major characters (Sasuke the dark-haired dude and Naruto the yellow-haired dude) are on a ninja team, of which the third member is Sakura. I know this from having Naruto on the brain lately. ;)

OMG, Red Dwarf-FLCL-AND Discworld crossover! Hooray!! I love your brain ^o^

[identity profile] mushroomthief.livejournal.com 2006-10-10 10:50 pm (UTC)(link)
OMFG.
I love you. Seriously.
Rimmer is teh sex.

[identity profile] polaris-starz.livejournal.com 2006-10-10 10:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Ahahaha William's expression at Rimmer is the best thing ever. ♥

[identity profile] fuyu-no-fuhei.livejournal.com 2006-10-11 12:12 am (UTC)(link)
I hurt from the laughing. Rimmer!

[identity profile] stevie-roch.livejournal.com 2006-10-11 01:29 am (UTC)(link)
YOU JUST TOTALLY MADE MY DAY. Rimmer FTW!

Red Dwarf + Discworld = Love. Highly amusing!

[identity profile] okiwan.livejournal.com 2006-10-11 05:18 am (UTC)(link)
LOVE Red Dwarf.

Love your scetch! Did you ever post the Warner Bros gag scetch? Did I miss it?!?!

[identity profile] virusq.livejournal.com 2006-10-11 05:48 am (UTC)(link)
lol

FLCL!

[identity profile] shazzamitsneill.livejournal.com 2006-10-11 11:51 am (UTC)(link)
I wish I got this. Oh well, it's fun to look at the motions of the drawings anyways. I love them. :D

[identity profile] disneyboy.livejournal.com 2006-10-16 09:10 am (UTC)(link)
I'm sure one of us could send you some links to illuminate you. Basically, in FLCL, a boy gets run over by an apparently insane older girl in a vespa (Haruko), and gets a nasty (weirdly-shaped) bump on the head. Whenever she (or another much older girl) manages to arouse him in some inappropriate, kinky way, giant robots burst out of his head and fight eachother! (it's really twisted stuff)
Rimmer (the guy with the "H" on his forhead) is a "hologram" - a computer copy - all that's left of the original crewmember of "Red Dwarf", which was set adrift in space for eons (one of the other crewmembers was a cat that eventually evolved into a jive-talking black guy that wears a zoot suit)
As far as "The Truth" is concerned, I'm afraid you're on your own, since I haven't read it. Sorry!

[identity profile] shazzamitsneill.livejournal.com 2006-10-17 08:46 pm (UTC)(link)
is FLCL the same thing as Fooley Cooley?

[identity profile] twirlynoodle.livejournal.com 2006-10-17 08:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes ... there's a ... pronunciation thingy somewhere in the comments.

[identity profile] disneyboy.livejournal.com 2006-10-17 10:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes.

[identity profile] lady-twatterby.livejournal.com 2006-10-11 01:47 pm (UTC)(link)
I won't be the first, and probably not the last to say this, but, although I didn't initially see where the all the cross-over bits came from, I did laugh. Because the expressions are priceless.

[identity profile] lync180.livejournal.com 2006-10-11 05:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Ahahahhah....way too awesome, no really...this was hilarious. That chick from FLCL scares me to no end. Good thing she didn't have her guitar with her.

Freakiness........... growing..........

we all know and love. as compared to page 10 of the newest Discover magazine (which Icannot find a picture of.), they are pretty much the same exact thing! well, at least the guy in Discover is using his left hand......

[identity profile] twirlynoodle.livejournal.com 2006-10-11 08:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Aw, man... I loved Discover magazine ...

Until STUPID POLITICS made people STUPID and someone canceled the subscription. [fierce but contained politics rage] I suppose I could just go to the library and read it ... if I had time ... I'll have to check out that edition, though, I mean, if it's got clacks towers – ! Mighty progress!

[identity profile] disneyboy.livejournal.com 2006-10-16 09:10 am (UTC)(link)
????????

[identity profile] jume.livejournal.com 2006-10-11 11:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Man I totally knew that was rimmer.

[identity profile] ardys-the-ghoul.livejournal.com 2006-10-12 04:10 am (UTC)(link)
I love this, if only for the fact that I wasn't entirely sure I was going to like The Truth until the scene where William sees the big R bruise on his forehead.

Not to criticize, but is it just me, or are William's hands kind of small (especially noticeable in the fourth picture down)? I mean, it's a gag sketch, so I don't know if you want criticism. Sorry if I'm being too picky.

[identity profile] linda-lupos.livejournal.com 2006-10-12 05:16 pm (UTC)(link)
It's William! XD Ahahahahaha. His face in the second picture is just great!
Yep, I laughed. :)

[identity profile] rawrsie.livejournal.com 2006-10-13 06:14 pm (UTC)(link)
oh my wow.. that's awesome!!

[identity profile] sinisterlysweet.livejournal.com 2006-10-14 02:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Y'know, I saw the bandage and I thought FLCL. Then I scrolled down and started laughing so hard that my parents knocked down my door to make sure I wasn't dying. I love you, even the cut title had me falling out of my chair....

[identity profile] disneyboy.livejournal.com 2006-10-16 09:14 am (UTC)(link)
Even though I haven't read "The Truth" yet, you mercifully included a sufficient introduction to get me started...absolutely BRILLIANT!!! In concept and execution!! Well worth the wait!

[identity profile] rebelsketcher.livejournal.com 2006-10-19 05:50 am (UTC)(link)

It's fantastic!

red dwarf, pratchett and flcl...who'd a thought?

great stuff...hi by the way.

[identity profile] minty-sketches.livejournal.com 2007-03-11 07:32 am (UTC)(link)
*random wanderer, trawling through your journal for pretty drawingses, hope you don't mind*

Rimmer! You drew smeghead! X3

My word, I think The Truth must be my favourite Discworld book. William's such a poor sod. Otto too, now that I come to it. I think you got William dead on there

[identity profile] twirlynoodle.livejournal.com 2007-03-11 08:34 am (UTC)(link)
Thanks! :D I'm rather proud of my William actually.

[identity profile] minty-sketches.livejournal.com 2007-03-11 10:41 am (UTC)(link)
I think it's the hair. Very "I grew up in a boarding school" type of affair.

Your Otto is wonderful as well, I saw the sketch of him in the boxing stance. That made me laugh :3
