I've been Thud!ed

Just for the record, I think Thud! is the only book that has ever given me actual chills.

I just finished re-reading it on Sunday, and realized there were a couple dozen things I meant to draw but didn't, last time. The challenge now will be keeping them near the front of my head long enough to get at least some of them drawn.

I had a really clear image of Grag Bashfullsson (whose name, I just realised, I've been spelling wrong) so I tried getting it down last night:

It didn't gel until I got on the Cintiq and hashed it out at lunch. Paint in OpenCanvas tonight at home because (AIGH!) OC doesn't work on Macs.

On second thought, perhaps I should have painted his robey thing green and the detail on his shirt red, as he is a soothing character and green tends to communicate that. But it's a pretty docile red. And I don't see the dwarfs being much into green, what with it being a surface colour and all.

If you've finished the book, scroll down; you may find this funny. If you haven't, click away now!!

Someone cried from the depths of the cave, 'Just give him his g'drjakz* cow!' I had the idea for this the first time I read the book but my sketchbook of the time is littered with failed attempts ... so I guess I have learned something in the last two years, however much I feel otherwise.

Thank you!
I'd seen your site and then I thought, that I shall improve my drawing skills - now I'm drawing some HP characters!
