Oh hello, I'm a mod from potterpeople and I just want to say that I'm using a couple pictures for our stamping images (since they look better than anything else I was looking for XD). A picture of James and Tonks. To see them, go here: http://www.livejournal.com/community/potterpeople/66545.html#cutid1
On your site it says to tell ya if we're using your art so...I'm telling ya. :P
Um, thanks for the notificaztion but ... I really prefer this sort of thing to be an email. I can keep better track of it and it doesn't clutter up the LJ. Thanks anyway, though.
I spent about two thirds of the movie, this time through, studying their faces for the express purpose of caricature... It's taken A LOT of work to learn how to do it. More than a year of solid, dedicated caricature practise. I feel like I'm only just starting to get it.
If you'd pushed it any further, then people will have been dying of cuteness in your comments ^_^. A heap of corpses in your nice lj will not do XD
And I always think your doodles of real people look strikingly similar to them already. You've already got a really good foundation for caricature work :)
So they should be easy to caricature, right? I mean, it's incredibly normal[bland]-looking people like Sean Biggerstaff who are hard. At least that was my thinking at the time. Start with the most distinctive faces ... I need to go back and try them again.
Hey, I just added you to my friends list, hope you don't mind! :P I've been looking at your art for a year or so and love it! I'm a big Harry fan too and I'm also an animator... I'm pretty sure I read on your page somewhere that you're an animator... correct me if I'm wrong.
I know Glen Keane is in the habit of giving his characters big soulful eyes when the style permits (Beast, Aladdin, Tarzan...) and as Aladdin was much more of a sensitive sympathetic character than a hard hero, it stands to reason. I haven't actually read the specific comment you refer to, but it's standard character design wisdom. Large eyes are also more expressive, which is why mute characters (or those frequently dependent on nonverbal communication, as in the case of Ariel and Tarzan) usually have great big peepers. I've been noticing the shrinking eyes in my drawings lately and decided I needed to nudge myself back on track ... and I noticed while watching the movie that Edmund has really big eyes. Those are, in fact, intentionally almost Glen Keane eyes.
(I also noticed that in the scene where he's gagged and tied to a tree, he looks like he could grow up to look like Rowan Atkinson, though perhaps that's just the Mr Bean grimace that the gag gives him...)

Edmund looks strangely like an American exchange student we had in class a year ago.
Really cool pictures, as always. Gag sketch? Bring it on!

But aww, they're all so cartoony sweet ^_^ I'm impressed how close to the actors they look, considering you were doing it from memory!
