It's the atmosphere that's different. I greatly, greatly, greatly dislike hen parties (wedding/baby showers, stagettes, etc), and no matter what activity the gaggle of ladies was doing, they'd still be clucking and fussing with shallow politeness and driving me crazy.
I know you don't have a secret handshake, but you should.
