Thanks for the reminder! Too bad I was not there at the event or I would be wearing my lilacs!

And where did you find this hypothetical recording?

Be my guest – if you can figure out a melody to a song whose meter changes every other time it appears in the book, more power to ya.

I figure it's like the Hogwarts school song--everyone just picks a tune and sings together. ^^

I wonder if you could sing it to the tune of 'The Girl from Ipanema.'

People have suggested the Black Adder Theme, although I don't know what that sounds like.

Wouldn't humming be written more like 'Hmm-hmm-hmm'? ;) Dunno what you'd call 'doo-doo-doo'ing. Though that reminds me of another tune ... I wonder if it'd work with the Wallace and Gromit theme?

(That was me, on a school computer.)

I tend to refer to singing the tune of a song without using the words as humming regardless of what sound you're actually making.

(sigh) I know, I know - if I don't know what anybody's talking about by now, there's no point in trying to explain it...(shuffles glumly away with hands in pockets, kicking pebbles)
