They've got loads from The Emperor''s New Groove, one of my favourite movies ever because it's so hilarious. :D
http://youtube.com/watch?v=gGXyygln3u4 This one is the best though. Oh man, Nik Ranieri really is my god. Check out the difference between his animation and everyone else's, it's great :D
They've got lots from Groove ... because there's lots of rough animation on the Groove DVD. The TP DVD is painfully barren in comparison, but at least they've got some Doppler on there too. This stuff, however, is not on the DVD, or at least not anywhere I've been able to find, hence the excitement.
Nik Ranieri is fabulous (and Canadian!). But I pledge allegiance to Sergio Pablos.
When I was rather small I had Disney movie on VHS tape that had a preview of the then-upcoming Beauty and the Beast with a few seconds of a scene in the line test stage. Later I had another tape with a preview of Aladdin being drawn. I watched them over and over again and then tried to imitate them...
I remember the buzz about Pablos and his Doppler animation at the time of the film's release and a number of people in the animation industry were of the opinion that Doppler was one of the best-animated characters ever done.
hey hey, mor elinetest, i never though of looking them up but what a wonderous idea !!! yourblog is weird and scary in format but chalk full of awsome goodness :D whats your msn, !!! add meeeeeee
There was actually a Treasure Planet workprint floating around on bit torrent for a few years. It was mostly rough animation and storyboards and had different music and some different bits of dialogue.
I got treasure planet for christmas (for some reason i thought it was Atlantis, which i really really want) i didnt think that it would be that got but that first scence with jim and his mother and i was hooked! Best mistake i ever made!
You like Treasure Planet, do you? I'm surprised at who turns out to be a fan of that film (a lot of people seemed to hate it, but most folks have never actually seen it).
I went temporarily insane after Treasure Planet was released and bought some of the film's storyboards off of eBay (Disney always auctions stuff like this off after a big film release). I'm still kicking myself for not bidding on the Doppler and Amelia maquettes, but then again I really didn't have $3000 to spare at the time. *sigh*
I am no great fan of Treasure Planet, aside from it being The Doppler Movie. The whole reason I own the DVD is to stop-frame his animation. As for the whole ~wuv~ thing ... urgh.
LOL! Oh lordie! I just watched clip #2 several times and was cracking up. I love it when Sarah and Doppler are both denying that they're a couple and then Sarah goes "Ew!" and Doppler stops and STARES (in her direction) with this glare on his face, as if to say: "HEY! What's so Ew! about me?!?!?!"
Oh yeah! Doppler's defintely the star of Treasure Planet. The animation on him is just stunning. I still can't believe that his huge diving suit was entirely hand-drawn.
Someone once told me that they had a set of Doppler model sheets. I need to go through my emails and try to figure out who they were (at the time they were busy with school and I didn't want to bother them about photocopies). Oddly, Treasure Planet was one of the few animated films where very few model sheets surfaced.
Hmm, I am rather more of the opinion that Treasure Planet = Frustration and Disappointment With Brief Moments of Animation Relief. It takes all sorts, I suppose.
I do have to wonder exactly how these clips wandered out of the studio and found their way onto the internet...not that I don't love the opportunity to see such fabulous animation in pencil test form, of course! But man - someone's a lot gutsier than I am!
Did you draw these? theyre flippin' class! realli good, I wish i could draw like that, and if your drawings reflect ur sense of humour(like the harry potter misselancellous(CANNOT spell that word but meh)) then we have the exact same sense of humour hehe. lovin' the drawins! xo
wow thats amazing....i love animation, its like, the coolest thing ever! i'm great at still life drawings and stuff, but i wish i could draw animation...or like those amazing (some funny) harry potter pictures...wow -l
omg by the way i LOVED that movie....it was like, genius! that dog guy was cool but the only thing that annoyed me was the main charachters hair...i mean it was like a mohawk in a ponytail...odd
i really hate the kids hair...why does it remind me of the guy with the mohawk???i dont no what im talking about but maybe it is his squarey looking head. it just always reminds me of that. doppler is the coolest character though, i will agree. hes hilarious!
