DreamWorks Reboots for Life After Shrek

... by putting more time and energy into sequels! Wait a minute, haven't we already decided this is BAD? Also, again, no mention of Bromeliad on the slate. Sigh.

A lot of talk about sequels, franchises, spin-offs, etc. even before the original comes out. Make the original the best it can be and those things will take care of themselves. Have they hired Eisner as a consultant?

A full-length movie about Shrek's Puss n' Boots? O_O Is this company suicidal or what? *scream, scream, scream, and run away..*

I've been saving so much money not going to the theatres lately.

An extra year of preproduction? *headdesk* Yeah, if there's one thing Dreamworks movies need, it's one more year of focus-grouping, second-guessing, losing-the-plotting, oh, and a time for a couple more producer-swaps.

Iron Giant went from start to finish in a little over two years, if I recall correctly. LOL, suddenly I'm flashing back to Brad Bird at the animation-wrap thingie screaming "Tarzan is still in animation... and they started six months ahead of us!! THEY'RE PUSSIES!!!!"

Here's an idea: how about letting your directors, you know, direct a movie or something.

Farewell, DreamWorks.

I was dissapointed Flushed Away didn't do better. I enjoyed it quite a bit, thought the pacing just felt... weird.

I'm confused, probably because I only quickly read the article,

didn't it just say, "we suck because we do it too fast" and then say, "but there's no reason we shouldn't be doing two movies a year"

and then didn't it also say, "we need to try something different", and then say, "we are making more of the same movies." btw ps omg rawfl Madagascar suxorz

FLUSHED AWAY FTW. BGs were a little computer-y, but it was an absolute blast of a movie. Looking forward to the DVD.

Somewhere in storage in either LA, Edmonton, or Canada, I have this on VHS-- they did a really sweet little crew video for us. And someday, in a decade or so when I get all my stuff OUT of storage, I'll put it up on YouTube for you!

"DreamWorks executives say "Shrek" likely has two movies left in it after No. 3 (a fourth is already in the works for 2010). "Madagascar" has been sketched out as a four-chapter series, with a third movie teed up for either 2011 or 2012."

5 Shrek movies?! Good gods, the first one was good, the second one was okay, but I already think a third one is pushing it. And 3 more Madagascars? I don't think it needs even one sequel. (the original was actually better than I expected, but I just can't think of anything more to add to the story) This is really sad.

Oh no, they're going to make a movie of "How to Train a Dragon??" They're gonna screw it up, I just KNOW it! My daughter loves that book! *sits down and grumbles* And making another Shrek movie? Will they PLEASE stop beating that poor dead horse??

Hah, have you seen the trailer for Shrek 3? It looks dead in the water to me. If only I could believe that it wasn't going to make pots of money...

OMG, yes! My daughter and I went and saw "Eragon" and they showed the trailer for "Shrek 3" and we just looked at each other and said, "Ooooookaaaaay..."

No... it does NOT look good. The word "moribund" comes to mind. And they want to do ONE MORE???? Are they KIDDING???

Two more, I believe. I don't know if the Puss is Boots movie 'counts' as part of the franchise, but they say it's going up to five.

I think perhaps they have drawn their story team almost exclusively from a pool of mediocre fanfic writers.
