In going through past sketchbooks, I discovered some things that I don't think I've posted in here ... Some of them weren't even on my hard drive. Maybe I didn't think they were good enough at the time, but my standards have dropped! Here you go!

Many people complain that I don't draw Harry's scar. Well. I have rationalized this.
1. It is stated that Aunt Petunia assigned Harry his haircut 'to hide that horrible scar.' He has never been described as deciding to change it.
2. Harry is frequently decsribed as flattening his bangs/fringe over his forehead to hide it, therefore his hair must hang over his forehead. He seems to be rather insecure about it, so putting it on display seems out of character.
3. Scars (especially old ones) tend to be a slightly lighter colour than the surrounding skin. Making his a big fat black pencil line seems unsporting and unrealistic.
4. A thin pencil line in amongst the thin pencil lines that make up the hair in the same area would make his scar just look like a crooked hair.
I drew this pic of Harry asking Petunia about his scar as a young child to say LOOK! There! He's got a scar! Happy?

Harry and Hagrid eat hamburgers after shopping at Diagon alley. This picture makes me want a hamburger, which is very unusual for me.

I was sure I had scanned this, but apparently not, as he's not on my hard drive or site or Photobucket. So. The new Teatime. Charming, no?

Just prior to 'No no, don't do it, you're far too brave.'

Brutha carries Vorbis in the desert and finds that old temple ... I don't remember if he's carrying Vorbis at this point but oh well, it's all about the temple, which didn't come out as cool as I'd hoped.

Rutherford Lodge and Irish from the adventures thereof in Colin and Fergus' Digi Radio. I drew this in response to the first series... the second series wasn't nearly as good, alas. Oh well, I will still enjoy the perilous adventure of the Three Men in a Tub (in a Tub).

If I have actually posted these before, um ... sorry.

You've been holding out on us. xD How many more great drawings are hiding in your sketchbooks, I wonder?

And out of curiosity, how old is the oldest sketchbook you have saved?

These were all ones I thought I'd posted but had somehow slipped through the cracks ... They're all I could find from the last three years so I wouldn't worry too much.

My oldest sketchbook ... well, I've got my one from Grade 10, and one before then (before I kept a regular sketchbook) that had drawings that go back to before I moved to Salt Lake, so ... 11? If that's the one I'm thinking of, anyway. Maybe I'll post some of my old embarassing stuff soon. :)

I like the hamburger picture. It's probably the sheer size of Hagrid compared to Shortarse there (aka Harry).

How do you scan your pictures? The pencil lines come out all nice. Mine, when I scan at home, always look all pixally no matter what I do. Yet when I'd scan at the school they'd look nice and smooth like yours.

Your drawings are very nice too, they always have been!

Me to!! I always have to trace mine over in pen, which is where I usually mess up! I hate it! They always come out wrong at home!!! I have an HP printer, and I can't see why they don't scan well

WE NEED TIPS!!

Your Hagrid is so lovely and cuddly, talking to poor skinny little Harry. And Teatime SCARES me. He's perfect. That big wide eye.... *shudders*

It depends on the scanner, of course ... some scanners are just awful. Check to see if your scanner has different settings for text, b/w image, b/w photo, colour photo, etc. Pick 'colour photo' or whatever setting is closest to that. I greyscale my scans and play with the levels in Photoshop to make the white really white and make the lines a bit darker – compare these images to my sketchbook pages which I don't modify in any way (except greyscaling them sometimes).

See my reply to Hobbitnat for general scanning stuff...

I HATE HP SCANNERS. They do an okay job of scanning but the interface = ARGH. Argh, I say. It was designed for middle-aged housewives who know nothing about computers to scan their snapshots or something, with no 'advanced' options; its user-friendliness gets in the way of gettingto do what i want it to do.

Rant, rant, rant.

Oh wait ... you said you had an HP printer? Nevermind. They make great printers. I have one too. But I don't have an HP scanner. I have a Canon. It was on sale.

I like teatime! His hair in particu-lar.

(I like teatime without hair normally...)

(Meaning, I like my hair while having tea but not tea in my hair...)

(I don't like washing my hair with tea, either, that's not what I meant...)

(Not that I'm adverse to people dying their hair with tea...)

(I like tea anytime - especially when I'm at the hairdressers...)

(Just not when bits of cut hair get in my tea...)

*screams like a girl and runs away!*

AAAAARGH HP SCANNERS DIE DIE DIE. I have to jockey the one at work occasionally and it hates me possibly even more than I hate it back.

AH! that is my problem I have an HP 3 in one, so that probably is my problem. It prints ok (I've had better ones), but scans and copied like nuts! Well I'm bugeting for my own computer, so i'll add a scanner, that is not HP to my list heheh! Thanks again Tealin!
