... but what does this say about Lucius Malfoy?

Peacock Falls in Love with Car

"It started when he fell in love with a Lexus, which was in a very distinct peacock blue," said Sir Benjamin.
... so not only is the bird extremely short-sighted and completely lacking a sense of proportion, but apparently gay. Peahens are brown. (Unless he mistook the car not for a mate but for a rival, which would make a little more sense.)

I bet the peacock saw its own reflection in the car doors and was attacking what it thought was a rival (which would have been hitting back pretty car, being dent-resistant and the whatnot). Lexus' tend to be shiny shiny cars, after all.

Okay, THAT makes a lot more sense. Editing original statement...

Ha ha! Freudian slip! Hitting back pretty HARD, I meant. ^_^O

:D A gay peacock with a car-fetish - you gave me my laugh of the day!
I'm not sure whether he would be a good familiar for Arthur Weasley or for Lucius?

I swear I saw that exact picture of the peacock stuck to the teacher's desk in art class today...

It's probably a stock photo.

*Slaps forehead* That would explain it. lol Still new to the whole stock-photo thing. Thanks!

I was staying at my grandpa's house once--early in the morning I was awakened by a strange cooing noise from outside the window. After about ten minutes or so of continuous cooing, I finally went to the window and looked out. There was a pigeon sitting on the air conditioning unit, cooing amorously at its own reflection. It was still there half an hour later, although it had stopped cooing.

Although, I agree that in this case the peacock was probably attacking what it thought was a rival bird.

I had a hen turkey that fell MADLY in love with my neighbor's mailbox.

My neighbor's kid had a birthday party one day in spring, and she had tied those big round silver balloons with Disney characters on them to her mailbox so the birthday party invitees could recognize her house. The day after the party, I found my turkey calmly standing next to the mailbox gazing up at it in total awe, her neck craned in a sexy "s" shape as she cuddled next to the wrought-iron post holding up the mailbox! Should anyone approach the mailbox, the hen would get all puffed up and start purring in attack-mode with her wings lowered, protectively circling her beloved mailbox. She stayed there for a month until my neighbor managed to untie the balloons.

English aristocrat Baronet Sir Benjamin Slade claims a "gay" peacock caused 4000 ($A9000) damage to a "peacock blue" Lexus car owned by an employee by trying to have sex with it. He told insurers the bird had to be gay because peahens are brown and only peacocks are blue.

funny how these things circulate...
this was in the 'odd spot' section on the front page of our local paper today...

I'm sure I'm not the first or the only person to have pointed this out ... it is funny, though.

[identity profile] hritza.livejournal.com 2007-10-10 05:36 am (UTC)(link)
it is very funny :)
I didn't realise it was so widely circulated, though!

Any story that features the equation [animal] is sexually attracted to (i.e. 'falls in love with') [inanimate object/hilariously inappropriate other animal] is guaranteed to spread like wildfire.
