Well, I have succumbed to peer pressure and at last got meself one of them newfangled LiveJournaly thingies. This was originally supposed to start in the new year, but ... what the heck. Maybe by starting this early I'll make up for long stretches of not updating at all, which I can forsee even from this early date...

Dec. 11th, 2004 09:24 pmSince I'm on my LiveJournal honeymoon, I thought I'd explain the odd little image I've chosen as my inaugural icon. It's from a painting by Eugène Galien-Laloue which I'd had as my wallpaper for a while, and this particular figure has always perplexed me.

To me, this has always looked like a little kid wearing a fireman's hemlet and carrying a TV camera on his shoulder. What would someone like this be doing in a turn-of-the-century Paris street scene? Beats me.
