I have made my first homemade latte.

In other news, people who are far too familiar with the Snicket bio may find this picture very, very amusing. (At least I did. This may have to do with the latte.)

By adding to this post instead of the one above, I can ensure no one will read it at all... which is probably just as well as it's incredibly boring.

Our neighbourhood has been beset by jays. They do make it nice and colourful, if a bit raucous. That is, if you can tell, with all the crows around.

I saw a red-winged blackbird this morning.

Against a south-facing white wall, a magnolia is blooming.

Wait...
Against the south wall
Magnolias are blooming
Pink sighs on whitewash.

I knew there was a haiku in there somewhere.

I've just finished listening to the audio versions of the first two volumes of A History of Britain. They are much more comprehensive, and inclusive of Irish and Scottish history, than the TV series - which, in light of this editing, ought to be called A History of Britain (Abridged).

It would do well to remind North Americans that this very condensed skimming of history is still enough to fill fifteen hours of quality entertainment.
