This has got to stop.
Jun. 14th, 2011 08:33 amDear NPR Newsreaders:
This is a period, also known as a full stop: .
When you see one, that indicates the end of a sentence. A sentence is one complete idea; one puts a period at the end of it to indicate the separation between that idea and the one following. When you see a period in something you are reading aloud, it is generally advisable to put a downward inflection in your voice, to signify the end of a sentence if you segue directly into the next one it can be confusing for the listener who then has to figure out where the new sentence began.
Seriously, you guys are professionals.
Sincerely,
A contributing member
