I am listening to this for the second time in a row.

Empire of Illusion

The blurb on the site goes
Writer Chris Hedges argues that North American culture is dying because it has become transfixed by illusions about literacy, love, wisdom, happiness and democracy. Jim Brown explores Hedges' ideas about the mechanisms that keep us diverted from confronting the collapse around us.
... but it's less about people drugging themselves with media than it is an exploration of American popular disenfranchisement, the forces working upon the boundaries of political and social debate, and how people are conditioned against iconoclasm and steered away from using critical thinking to question received wisdom.

Once again, Ideas delivers!
