It's that time again ...

... time for Tealin's Been Working And Listening To The Radio And For Some Reason Feels She Must Share!

BBC Radio 4
Letters to the Fuhrer – A very interesting look at Jewish presence on American radio before and during WWII

Analysis - Examining political opinion, how it forms, what sways it, how it becomes polarised, possible ways to defuse polarisation ... fascinating and relevant.

CBC Radio One
I really should just have a floating link to Day 6, because I link to it prectially every week. But until I figure out how to do this, here's this week's episode – it contains a segment on Why the South should secede ("it's like a bad marriage that needs to end, in order to save the children from turning into the same dysfunctional wrecks as the parents") and, contrary to all other media coverage of which I am aware, a review of The Casual Vacancy that looks at it as a book in its own right rather than as a phenomenon, or a follow-up to a phenomenon (though those things are discussed as well).

Ideas on Idolatry - What "idolatry" means, looking at it in both a traditional religious way and in a secular philosophical one, i.e. the preoccupation with distractions to the detriment of what really matters. I heard this back in June and was very happy to hear it rerun: highly recommended. As with the most exemplary Ideas programs, it may crack your skull open (in a good way, of course) and perhaps even change your life.

NPR (?!!?! – yes)
Last week's On the Media had an hour-long in-depth look at real and perceived bias in the media, particularly NPR; who claims bias, what 'bias' means, how it is detected, the measures taken (including possible over-correction) to compensate for perceived bias etc. It was really interesting to hear about this from 'the inside' rather than just the one-way complaints of editorialists and pundits.
