Bonjour, mes amis, je vous donne aujourd'hui une veritable coffre de tresor – de la radio!*

Some Things:
Moby Dick: Part 1 and Part 2 - Moby Dick was really "in" for a while so I post this in case someone is interested in a dramatisation ... It's not my favourite bit of radio but it's very interesting to me because it shares a significant number of important people with the Worst Journey radio play which got me into all that, and has thematic and tonal similarities, but somehow just doesn't flick my switch. Why? I keep listening in the hope I'll figure it out. It is my personal theory that someone at R4x booked this for yesterday and today because of Talk Like A Pirate Day, but this will likely never be proved.
Bombing Berlin - the BBC digs up a recording made on a bombing run over Berlin in 1943, looks at the effect of this broadcast, and hears from people who were on the ground.
The Uncanny - A really excellent documentary exploring the notion of the uncanny, in fiction, life, and psychology.

Finnemania!
Cabin Pressure: Fitton - Last episode in the first series, the crew of MJN is grounded in the rain waiting for a call. The joy of apples. The blessings of vodka. Really lovely rainy ambiance for a parched California September.
- John Finnemore's Souvenir Programme, Epiosde 2 and Episode 3 - It's just great, I don't know what more to say than that, listening will make your day better, that's practically a guarantee. Listening to both these episodes and "Fitton" might make you dangerously happy, so be careful.

Topping up last time's reccs:
All of the Planet's Wonders - As someone who can identify a bluetit in a hollyhock, I love this episode, though it does make me feel very much out of time and place ...
Armando Iannucci's Charm Offensive - The World Cup is hotting up, and someone makes a case for the Daily Express' "Diana Turetts" which, against all common sense, makes me smile whenever I see a Daily Express. (It's funny cos it's true!)

*What, I'm sure there were pirates who spoke bad French.
