Our Daily Bill: Character Sketch
Mar. 13th, 2014 10:32 am. . . if you had ever met him, you would never have known [his faith], unless you became one of the very few people in whom he confided. He never saw the point in expressing his views to someone else, unless they asked. A quiet, shy man with great courtesy; a ripping sense of humour but a gentle manner; ginger hair and bright blue eyes; a long, slightly stooping stride; and an ever ready smile, matched only by his readiness to do whatever he could to help: these are the characteristics that most of his acquaintances remembered. He would draw sketches of the staff and his fellow students during lectures, much to their delight, and freely lent his notes and experience, just as he had at Cambridge or Cheltenham College.
