There was an Armando Iannucci sketch once in which there was no news, and the anchors sat twitchy at the BBC News desk while the crawl at the bottom of the screen read simply 'No News.' That's certainly how my blog has come across of late ... radio/sketchbook/radio/Youtube link/radio ... I'm sorry to be such a bore, but there just hasn't been much to say! Given my proclivity for rants, no news in this case is definitely good news, and indeed it's hard to think of a time I've been more completely contented in life ... but stressed grapevines make better wine.

For the sake of buffering two radio posts, here's a Non-Update:

1. Still reading big piles of Polar stuff, and writing little piles of Polar stuff; I can't comment on the former as it feeds into the latter and I can't comment on the latter as it's intended for publication(?), so strictly embargoed before then. It has made me wonder where the archives of the future will be, now we've more or less stopped writing paper letters, which have made up the bulk of my reading lately.

2. Work is worky work but I can't talk much about it because that's how the entertainment industry works, doncha know. I'm on Ethel & Ernest now, and it is fantastic if time-consuming; it's just the sort of film I'd see at Disney and think 'Why can't we do that?' so it's doubly nice being on the other side of the divide. The grass really is greener. Also working in TV Paint for the first time, which is a beautiful program, let me tell you. I still love drawing on paper, but animating in TV Paint is ... well, I can see why such good work comes out of it.

3. We've definitely turned the corner from summer into autumn. Haven't got out much and will probably miss the bulk of blackberry season; see Nos 1 & 2. Every day in Cambridge is a gift and an adventure, but doesn't necessarily make good blogging. I have been keeping track of eavesdropped gems under #overheardcambs – oh yeah, I'm on Twitter now too; repository of utter inanity, I've yet to figure out how to wield it for any other purpose, but I suspect that is its purpose. Those poor, poor historians of the future.

Right, that's me done, how are you?
