It's been a few months, but I've gotten sucked back into The Worst Journey in the World,* with the usual consequences.

I actually had a dream last week that I was geeking out about the radio play with some totally random friend-of-a-friend who happened to have heard it as well.

I think this is the point at which my therapist, if I had one, would begin to express concern.

*I've had no luck finding the book but it appears to be in virtual form on Project Gutenberg. Hmmmm. NO, do not have time!

Can you get an audiobook for it? Then you can work and 'read' at the same time :D

I've got the radio play, which is about as close to an audiobook as seems to exist, and has the side benefit of having more to it than a guy rambling on in memoiry first person and possibly putting me to sleep. I fight a neverending battle against sleep, so anything lulling must be avoided.

But yes, the radio play has been getting a looooooot of play lately.

I just want to read it, not own it. This is what libraries are for, but the ones nearby have been uncooperative.

Hindered by my pre-breakfast grogginess, I spent several minutes wondering how one could "split" tea...

Could you an inter-library loan? I don't know if they do that everywhere, but they do it here, although it usually takes about a month to get a book in..

It aired on Radio 4 back in, oh, September I think ... If it ever airs again I'll post a link but I have no way of knowing when this will be. Maybe in a couple of years it'll turn up on BBC7? There was a site that had it available for download but I can't find it now so maybe it got taken down. Half of my recording came from this site and the other half I recorded myself off the radio ...

This is a good idea. I usually get too frustrated at the sluggishness of Burbank's library website to even attempt getting that far with it, but maybe if I go in one of these lunchtimes and do it in person...
