Frog Trailer Screencaps Ahoy!
May. 11th, 2009 11:03 pmI resized them down a leetle to save excess loading time (if you want full-res you can download your own trailer!) and fiddled with the contrast and saturation (though I may be thrown off by monitor calibration). There are a couple of image banks where you can find practically any screencap you want (this one is useful...) so I'm not going to waste waking hours clutter up my LJ with redundant images. I'm only putting up ones about which I have something to say that might be of interest, or which I particularly like but you might miss when watching the trailer at speed.
In absolutely no order whatsoever:

So pretty.

SO MANY HAPPY ANIMALS.

How do they make dirty stagnant water look so pretty?

The shadows are SO FREAKING AWESOME YOU GUYS.

The obligatory A113 reference (it was the classroom number for character animation at CalArts back in the day) ... what amuses me is not so much its presence but the fact that there is at least one vehicle in this movie that does NOT have A113 on it.

A few of the masks are caricatures of crew members, but they mostly got hidden when the layering got done.

A subtle thing, but extremely cool: look at the pattern on the curtain. Do you see it? Look harder.
Katie, this one is for you:

I solemnly swear on all that is holy that I had nothing to do with this. I was hoping against hope that they'd colour his hair dark so it would be plainer. I'm glad this shot was in the trailer because otherwise I'd have had to wait almost two years from when I originally saw it, when it comes out on DVD, to show you.

There are many awesome things about Dr Facilier but one of my favourites is how rewarding it is to stop-frame his scenes.

OH YEAH BABY. (In case you're wondering, the masking got a little messed up but it'll be fixed in the final film)

Also maaaan I agree, not only is Facilier a great name but he looks so... classic villain-y. I can't wait to see more. Is he wearing a waistcoat over.. nothing? Dude.
God I am so damn stoked, SO damn stoked.
man I can't... I can't figure out what's hidden in the pattern though :(
ohhh edit: clear something up for me, where is Naveen from? It's Portugal, right??

Date: 2009-05-12 11:50 am (UTC)I think Marc would be very upset by your comment! Seeing as how he was born and raised in a swamp |: ) I doubt you're surprised. Most super villains come from fell places...

Date: 2009-05-12 01:26 pm (UTC)This movie looks like it will hit so close to home what with all the Old Dixie swampiness and all, and I'm so glad (not to mention JEALOUS) you had a part in it! ^_^ Congrats: this is definitely a masterpiece!
My favorite still however is the "happy animals" one. Those roseate spoonbills are made entirely of AWESOME! :D And you just can't have a Bayou!movie without a lovable alligator. Also, I couldn't help but notice that those birds (are they herons?) on the trees look very much like that lanky goofball!bird in Pixar's short, For the Birds (possibly my favorite Pixar short).
Only please let me know one thing: do those snakes blink? Please say 'no'! It irks me to NO END when cartoon!serpents (and fish, though at least most fish dissimulate by rolling their eyes in their sockets, making it appear as though they can 'close' their eyes) have eyelids!!! Granted, one of my favorite Disney villains is Kaa, but his constant blinking makes me want to throw something!
Thanks for these!
