Happiness is Relative
Mar. 29th, 2005 07:38 pmI'm sure glad I like drawing, because otherwise today would have been unbearable.

First on the menu is Stanley. There is something to his character that reminds me of a number of people I've suspected of having a crush on me in the past, and I wanted to capture that quality that makes me want to run away screaming "AAAH! Stop staring at me!!" I like the design on the left as a drawing but it's not quite Stanley ... the loose little thumbnail gets a bit closer.
Then we have Crispin Horsefry, whose personal footnote makes me wonder what Mr. P's been reading lately:
What is more annyoing than a library without an iPac system? A library whose iPac system, to which one is addicted, refuses to work!! I don't know if I can survive the night without knowing if the copy of Reaper Man (unabridged on cassette) that I have on hold has been returned on its due date!
I am in such incredibly, inexplicably, indomitably high spirits today that I fear I may rupture something. I'm so giddy I may stay up all night just ... being happy. I wish I could bottle some of this and stick it in the pantry for when I've got the cannonballs.

I think I'm going to change his nose.It is wrong to judge by appearances. Despite his expression, which was that of a piglet having a bright idea, and his mode of speech, which might put you in mind of a small, breathless, neurotic but ridiculously expensive dog, Mr Horsefry might well have been a kind, generous, and pious man. In the same way, the man climbing out of your window in a stripy jumper, a mask and a great hurry might merely be lost on his way to a fancy-dress party, and the man in the wig and robes at the focus of the courtroom might only be a transvestite who wandered in out of the rain. Snap judgements can be so unfair.Going Postal pg. 71, UK edition
