We're having adventures, here, people, no time to slow down.

I swear I am not the type normally to photograph my food, but I had to in this case because it was so pretty. Also, whoever thought of making a veggie patty out of sweet potato, chickpeas, and nuts should be remembered.

Baby juncos in my cousin's hanging basket!

The swallows have pretensions. I don't know how they got that giant feather up there, it's more than twice their size.

Sometimes I wonder how much the view of the Sunshine Coast from Vancouver Island resembles the view of the Western Mountains from Ross Island. This is far easier to wonder at sunrise in the middle of winter.

Things About B.C. Flora You Didn't Know You Needed to Know
When it's not roped into serving as a cheap and hardy filler in supermarket bouquets, salal grows in thickets along the northwest coast. In the wild it has flowers like a blueberry; the berries resemble blueberries but are slightly fuzzy and the flavour is more perfumey. Tasty, though. You can get salal berry jam in Tofino.

This sand used to be mountains on the mainland. I wanted to pick all the samphire and take it home to sauté, but it was a provincial park, alas.

An old First Nations fishing weir, set up near the mouth of a creek. It's hard to say how old it is, because wood degrades quickly, but it might have been only recently uncovered.

Come on, B.C., can you stop being gorgeous for, like, five minutes?

You're not listening.

Aaaaaarrrgh.
