What did I tell you about being gorgeous, BC ...?

Wow have I ever got a lot of photos to post. Grab a snack and dive in, now my last Island picture has been posted we're going on a tour of the G.V.R.D.!

The West Vancouver seawall is a favourite haunt from the old days, though to my mind it has to be walked in the rain on a Thursday night. The weather and calendar didn't cooperate this time around, but at least I could control the time. (I have walked it in the sun; it was just wrong.)

Lions Gate Bridge, with Gracie's Pearls. Lionsgate, the studio, which does Hunger Games, is named after the first narrows in Vancouver Harbour, but the turncoats moved from Vancouver to LA a few years ago.

A slightly Magritte water fountain

The Dundarave waterfront

People used to fish off the Dundarave pier – maybe they still do, I didn't see any – and the ropes from the hand-thrown nets have worn deep grooves in the wood.

Stanley Park ... it's pretty nice.

Glory be to God for dappled things ...

Third Beach is more wild in the winter, but probably more enjoyable on a warm sunny day in June.

Rice Lake was created to be a water source for sluices to get logs from Lynn Canyon to the harbour, but they've kept it around and stock it with fish.

Its many small inlets make it a good place for reflections.

Geez, Howe Sound, you're so dramatic.

It's ALIIIIVE! Everything is alive! Life on life, abounding. It's food for the spirit, I'm sure of it – at least it is for me. Some people live on sunshine. Your mileage may vary.

Even the water is green, in a clean mineraly way, not a fetid algae way.

Lynn Canyon (and a lot of the North Shore) was logged a hundred years ago, so the forest which feels so ancient is comparatively young. The giant stumps everywhere attest to how much older it was, before.

The trail up Lynn Creek is one of my favourites anywhere in the world, and every time I take it I find something new. This time: surprise horsetail grotto.

You never know what you'll get with June in Vancouver ... some years it's an extension of drab rainy spring, some years it's just unfathomably beautiful.
