GOP Gospel: Treasures
Feb. 27th, 2021 09:13 amDay 9 of my Lent project. For background, please read this.
A reading from the Gospel according to the GOP:
I know I'm spending a lot of time kicking the Prosperity Gospel, but there's just so much to kick ...
Matthew 6:19-21
"Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust consume and where thieves break in and steal; but store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust consumes and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also."
A reading from the Gospel according to the GOP:
Work hard in righteousness and your Father will reward you with plenty upon earth. Therefore hold these gifts close, as a reminder that you have earned his love, to keep your faith strong. Should they be diminished by decay or theft, then you have proven to be a poor steward of his gifts, and he will not give you more, and your reward in heaven will be depleted accordingly, due to your lack of faith. For your treasure is an outward sign of the love you have earned from your Father, and that is where your heart should be.
