Okay, you haven't seen the last of the Half-Blood Prince pictures, but I'm onto Good Omens (which I now own IN HARDCOVER YEAH!!) at the moment, so permit me a little sidetracking.
A.J. Crowley - An angel who didn't Fall so much as Saunter Vaguely Downwards ... here played by Sirius Black. (Sorry, that's just how I picture him!)
Aziraphale - Crowley seems to get all the girls, but I prefer Aziraphale, personally. Here he looks like he could be Jacques's brother, except that Jacques has a brother, and this isn't how I picture him, so maybe he's the mysterious fourth Snicket sibling?
Aziraphale again - Many people, meeting Aziraphale for the first time, formed three impressions: that he was English, that he was intelligent, and that he was gayer than a tree full of monkeys on nitrous oxide. Two of these were wrong; Heaven is not in England, whatever certain poets may have thought, and angels are sexless unless they really want to make an effort. But he was intelligent.* (pg 119, US hardcover) I have tried drawing Aziraphale so many times... I think this one might actually stick. Even though I suspect I am stealing him from somewhere.
Another Crowley - Trying Crowley again – since I decided Aziraphale should have more forward hair, Crowley ought to have his slicked back or something. This one makes me think of Wolverine or maybe Jack Nicholson.
Angel in the Rain - Fiddling around with angelic anatomy ... how'd the wings come up to protect him from the rain? Not intended for design purposes.
Hastur and Ligur - New I forgot about them last night ... Hastur and Ligur, Dukes of Hell. Yes, they look like Jasper and Horace from 101 Dalmatians, but to be fair, they are described as tall and thin or squat and hunched, respectively, and masters of lurking.
*Best description EVER.

From the description of Aziraphale, I immediately found my mind dominated by the image of Dennis Price:

By the way, if you have not yet seen Kind Hearts and Coronets, put everything else in life on hold and Do So At Once!

Date: 2005-07-21 03:35 pm (UTC)And I think the reason Aziraphale always feels stolen is he looks an awful lot- in every drawing I've ever seen- like Remus Lupin. :)

Date: 2005-07-21 05:05 pm (UTC)Hee, Crowley is so Wolverine. And I prefer Aziraphale, too; dude, booklover vs. black leather? I think we know which one wins.
Hastur and Ligur instantly reminded me of Sherlock Holmes, for some reason. Maybe it's the hats . . and the chins.
I love your character designs: a-MA-zing. (Aziraphale's hair is really helping the gayer than a tree full of monkeys on nitrous oxide part. xD All I ask is that it never turns into a mullet. And that he ties it up sometime, so I can love the ponytail. Please?)

Date: 2005-07-21 06:59 pm (UTC)Firstly, nice pics. I like the non-slick Crowley the best: even though I'm not familiar with the books, it strikes me as "cooler". Second Aziraphale is better, too (the full-body one). I think thats how the wings should go, looks natural.
Secondly, what animation school did you go to? I'm thinking of doing animation, and I'm picking up ideas for where to go.
