Okay, you haven't seen the last of the Half-Blood Prince pictures, but I'm onto Good Omens (which I now own IN HARDCOVER YEAH!!) at the moment, so permit me a little sidetracking.

A.J. Crowley - An angel who didn't Fall so much as Saunter Vaguely Downwards ... here played by Sirius Black. (Sorry, that's just how I picture him!)
Aziraphale - Crowley seems to get all the girls, but I prefer Aziraphale, personally. Here he looks like he could be Jacques's brother, except that Jacques has a brother, and this isn't how I picture him, so maybe he's the mysterious fourth Snicket sibling?
Aziraphale again - Many people, meeting Aziraphale for the first time, formed three impressions: that he was English, that he was intelligent, and that he was gayer than a tree full of monkeys on nitrous oxide. Two of these were wrong; Heaven is not in England, whatever certain poets may have thought, and angels are sexless unless they really want to make an effort. But he was intelligent.* (pg 119, US hardcover) I have tried drawing Aziraphale so many times... I think this one might actually stick. Even though I suspect I am stealing him from somewhere.
Another Crowley - Trying Crowley again – since I decided Aziraphale should have more forward hair, Crowley ought to have his slicked back or something. This one makes me think of Wolverine or maybe Jack Nicholson.
Angel in the Rain - Fiddling around with angelic anatomy ... how'd the wings come up to protect him from the rain? Not intended for design purposes.
Hastur and Ligur - New I forgot about them last night ... Hastur and Ligur, Dukes of Hell. Yes, they look like Jasper and Horace from 101 Dalmatians, but to be fair, they are described as tall and thin or squat and hunched, respectively, and masters of lurking.

*Best description EVER.

Loverly work, as ever, although if the Angel Crowley is meant to remind one of the sorcerer Crowley, you have flattered him considerably:

From the description of Aziraphale, I immediately found my mind dominated by the image of Dennis Price:

By the way, if you have not yet seen Kind Hearts and Coronets, put everything else in life on hold and Do So At Once!

I have to say, that is undeniably the best character description ever.

P.S.
I want his shoes. :|

I love these. Crowley's sunglasses (flash bastard) are perfect.

And man, that character description cracks me up every time.

Oh man - your Aziraphale is awesome! I love his look of unintentional elegance. He's angelic, but also "just enough of a bastard to be likeable" (that's me paraphrasing Crowley.)

Good omens is AWESOME. Kudos on owning the hardcover.

Wow! I was hoping you'd do some Good Omens illustrations! Crowley and Aziraphale look fantastic (especially Aziraphale...I had a hard time picturing him, but your design nailed it perfectly!) Any chance of tackling War, Pollution, Famine, or Death next?

Oh, I'm already formulating War in my mind (I can hear the Department of Homeland Security's black SUVs revving up from here) and the others will be along shortly, I'm sure. But Death is Paul Kidby's Death... any Death that speaks in automatically reverts to Paul Kidby's Death.

Lovely work, as always (long time fan, usually a lurker).

And I think the reason Aziraphale always feels stolen is he looks an awful lot- in every drawing I've ever seen- like Remus Lupin. :)

Aiieee, when I read the word "Good Omens" in the post I got ridiculously excited and jumped up and down in my chair. Because, man! GOOD OMENS.

Hee, Crowley is so Wolverine. And I prefer Aziraphale, too; dude, booklover vs. black leather? I think we know which one wins.

Hastur and Ligur instantly reminded me of Sherlock Holmes, for some reason. Maybe it's the hats . . and the chins.

I love your character designs: a-MA-zing. (Aziraphale's hair is really helping the gayer than a tree full of monkeys on nitrous oxide part. xD All I ask is that it never turns into a mullet. And that he ties it up sometime, so I can love the ponytail. Please?)

I have two things to say, one of which doesn't exactly have to do with this, so I'll say that last.

Firstly, nice pics. I like the non-slick Crowley the best: even though I'm not familiar with the books, it strikes me as "cooler". Second Aziraphale is better, too (the full-body one). I think thats how the wings should go, looks natural.

Secondly, what animation school did you go to? I'm thinking of doing animation, and I'm picking up ideas for where to go.

*flails happily* yes! oh, so lovely. my favorite is actually the shielding-wings-doodle, just because...aww, rained-on aziraphale.

also, have you thought about joining up over at [livejournal.com profile] lower_tadfield and posting these there? we'd love to have you, and good art deserves to be loved by all.

Nice pictures! I've never read Good Omens before, but you've made me want to check it out. And yeah, I thought it was Wolverine too when I first clicked on the picture of Crowley. :B

Aziraphale

You may subconsciously be taking Aziraphale's costume from Doctor Who, as it reminds me of Tom Baker's costume. Just a thought.

I think I'm subconsciously taking his costume from all the people who wear scarves and trenchcoats, which happens a lot where I live. It's his face I'm more worried about ... I think it's that school-era obsession with Jean Gillmore's character designs popping up again.

I have to say your drawings of the Harry Potter characters is so incredible! You must have worked for Disney at some point or take inspiration from one of the animators. You have captured the characters images so well (I am a huge Snape fan and I love your version of him!). I hope to see more of your work on the lasat book Half Blood Prince. I thought your comic Harry/Frodo scetch was awasom!

yee hah!!
