Okay, it's 11:28 MDT, but I had to show my dad the nifty Photomerge thing in CS so that delayed me.

Morfin Gaunt - I realised while drawing this that I had cast Deagol as Morfin. Um.
Merope Gaunt - Gee, you'd think I liked Brett Helquist's art or something. I'm not sure her face is 'heavy' enough, but she's got the frazzled, desperate look I was going for. Her far hand is supposed to be on something but it's too high for a sink or counter ... any lower, though, and it would mess up the action line, so I don't know what to do with it.
Young Riddle gets a Visitor - This is probably my favourite scene in the book and the one to leave the strongest visual impression. Upon rereading it (halfway through completion of the drawing) I don't think Tom ever is in this pose, but I liked what it said in body language so I'm going to pretend that it was written that way. He also looks a bit too old, but I'm a terrible judge of age, so what do I know? Anyway, I'm rambling. I like it.

Art? Art is good.

Les Mis is also very good, especially when it's the Extended Edition of the soundtrack (thank you Bananabasket!).

I have been gone a while, haven't I? I think this is the longest I've gone without posting since I got a Livejournal.

I really like the 'visitor' drawing. I just feel the positioning of DD's arms is a bit odd; I'd sooner expect him to have them resting on his legs, rather than have them hovering above them. But his face is wonderful, he somehow looks indeed a lot younger. Perhaps it's the lack of glasses, lol.

Hmm... I tried to make them look like they were resting on his legs ... as it is they're way too long already. Oy. Maybe if I make his chair taller...

WOW WoW wow

Blast you, wench! How do you manage to start out so good, and yet improve with each new picture?

I suppose Dumbledore’s torso would be curved a little more if his elbows were resting on his knees -- but personally I like the gesture he is using rather more -- it looks ... er ... well, expectant, I guess. The only other nit I can pick is that I’m not entirely convinced by the curvature of the headboard -- it doesn't quite look like it will reach to the near side of the bed to me.

Does anyone else see Tom Riddle as Roddy McDowell? Anyway, he gives a convenient 1940’s boy reference -- just find a movie in which he’s the age you want, google it, and get all kinds of great pics:

http://www.xmoppet.org/miscpix/41_3.jpg

I generally see Dumbledore as Alan Napier, but (oddly) there don’t seem to be nearly as many characteristic pictures of him, despite the fact that he was in a kajillion movies. However:

http://www.lileks.com/bleats/archive/04/1104/1102art/noirart/5.jpg

Hope those were of some use.

Finally, a word (just one) about Merope. *Envy*

*worships* I tried drawing Merope once, and let's just say that it's nowhere near as good as yours. As usual, they're so perfect.

YESSSS!!!!! I love these! That scene in the orphanage was a brillant one, so I'm thrilled to see that you have chosen to immortalise it.

And I DO love that inbred look you've given the Gaunt kids! Morfin is brilliant -- just as nasty as he should be.

Merope is hard to capture, but nowhere NEAR as difficult as Eileen Prince has been for me. For some reason, I just can't manage to get her design standardised. It's driving me INSANE...well, more insane than I already am! ^_^ Tobias, conversely, has been one of the easiest of the random-only-just-verbally-mentioned charcters.

I totally agree with that, and I love the visitor picture. I think the only thing with it is yes, Tom looks a bit too old, but only by a couple years. He looks about 13 to me.

'visitor' one is awesome, and yes, young tom reminds me emensly of Roddy McDowell...odd..
dumbledore has to be my favorite character...(sob)..and youve done a lovely job with him, i dont see any problems with his posture..
theres this guy who always sits on the bench in front of the gas station every morining-looks exactly like your Morfin XD

Very nice. Love the slightly corss eyed Morfin. Reminds me of a reatrded Chihuahua I know (it is technically retarded. Am not just 'callously' throwing that term about.)
I really like Merope. The sense of movement is great.

Amd finally, I heart Dumbledore in that picture. It just IS Albus. Tom looks great, but as other said, too old. His face is so long, slender and pointed- he has no baby fat, and even slender 11 year olds have that. His limbs are also very long and proportioned more like a 14 year old. I really think this picture captures Tom, just not at the right age.

AWESOME. Great new drawings. The Gaunts look particularly disturbed. For some reason whenever I think of Merope, she's got her hair down in front of her face like Samara from the Ring. Except not as long hair. Still, great job with all of these pictures. Riddle should probably look a little younger, but it's still fine the way it is. The scary thing is I imagined that kid who plays Peter in Finding Neverland and Charlie in Tim Burton's Chocolate Factory movie in that seen in the book, even though he TOTALLY wouldn't play a character like that. So something's wrong with my imagination on Riddle. But that's besides the point. Great job on the drawings, especially on making Dumbledore look younger; he looks EXACTLY like I pictured him.

Might I add that Canon specifically stated that Tom looked a little older than most of the kids his age. He was much MUCH taller, more robust, and had older, more post-pubescent features.

So Tea's right.

And Les Mis is LOVE

Gah! Why must I be at Bloody Work, without my copy!?!?!? >.< It's there, I'll let you know later on.

The point is that Tom's not a normal child. So it's OK for him to look a little older. At least he doesn't look as old as he does in Mary Grandpre's abysmal representation of the scene in the American Version. I swore from the illustration he would have been at lest 18 there, so I was like "Woah!" when I read he was only 11.

Your version still kicks Mrs. Grandpre's version's butt, though! :-)

Keep em coming, Tealin. Please. Or the people I've introduced your work to will start the prodding again..

Getting to see a younger Dumbledore picture with my own eyes instead of my watery imagination, what a treat! I pictured Merope looking 'stringier' in the face but your version is just fine. Yay dynamic posture. That hand is totally grabbing onto a shelf. Yep.

Morfin... yes. Yes!

Yay for Tea! I love them! I knew you'd do a wonderful job, and I'm especially glad, though this probably didn't cross your mind, that you drew my request--Merope.

For some reason, Morfin made me giggle uncontrollably. You've captured him perfectly.

Your young Tom Riddle reminds me strongly of the actor. Which is good, because the actor has that creepy air about him. I agree that he looks a bit older than eleven, but not by too much.

Hi, I've always been looking at your webpage for your drawings, but I'm glad you mentioned you had a journal. You definitely give a different perspective to scenes in the books...

Although I didn't feel bad for Voldemort, I did for Merope...almost wonder how Riddle Sr. really reacted when he saw who he had left Cecilia for...?

Definitely a nice pose with Tom and Dumbledore...are you considering a similar one when they meet years later in Dumbledore's office?

I think you, out of all the Potter artists on the web, best capture the actual characterisations of the characters---weird, I know, but you manage to give this life-like quality that is lacking in most fanart.

Keep it up, dude. :)
