NPR's audience, I'd suggest, is educated people. Generally people with a better education are better-off, but there is nothing that prevents a street sweeper from listening to NPR. What prevents people from listening to NPR is, rather, the attitude of 'I don't wanna listen to no pansy-ass college boy talk for fifteen minutes about women's rights in Freakistan – what's up with Aruba Girl?'
