This is just a reminder that Small Gods is going to be on Radio 4 at 11pm GMT. For those of us in North America, that's 3pm Pacific, 4pm Mountain, 5pm Central, and 6pm Eastern (6:30 in Newfoundland ;). Listen live here! If you miss it 'cause you've got something crazy like work or school or something, they'll have a link to the archive the next day. It takes RealPlayer and, it would seem in some cases such as my father's, a friendly internet connection. It's a good introductory book if you're wondering what Discworld is like (though, of course, it won't have as much amusing or brilliant narration) and if you've been dying to know what 'The Turtle Moves' is all about, that's where the mysteries plaguing you will finally be solved. Also, before happening upon a song that made me reread Monstrous Regiment again and get caught up in designing that, my original project was going to be Small Gods, and there will doubtless be drawings from it before Easter. I hope it's good.

And:
You are not the only one watching the world. Other people are people; while you watch them, they watch you, and they think about you while you think about them. The world isn't just about you.

Monstrous Regiment, pg 107

I'll download it when it's posted on the web, being in another country doesn't allow me to listen to your radio :P And I finally want to know what Discworld is :)

You can use the Intarnets to listen live! Goodness knows that's the only way I can get my BBC fix. Sorry, I'll put a link up ... should have done that.

Small Gods was actually my first Discworld book, and I must agree that its a good starter. Slightly off the beaten track and not introducing all of the major characters that show up on a regular basis right off, which can be slightly confusing, and with humor aplenty. (But its Terry Pratchett, how can it not be funny?)

Thanks for this! I will try to tune in as well! Small Gods is my favorite Discworld novel, followed by Going Postal.

And here is something to ponder...

When the moon blocks the sun partly it is called an annular eclipse.
When the moon blocks the sun completely so it gets dark around you it is called a total eclipse.
When you cover your hands with your eyes so everything is dark for you it is a total eclipse of the Earth.- From Science Made Stupid

A link to the show would be nice, 'cause I don't get the BBC either. I am part of North America though, so now I only have to figure out if I'm in Pacific, Mountain, Central, or Eastern time... If I'm 1 hr ahead of Florida, does that make me Central?

Yup, you're Central.

The link is right there where it says 'Listen live here (http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio/aod/mainframe.shtml?http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio/aod/radio4.shtml?fm)!

Or you could click there.

Wait, ahead of Florida? Do you mean when it's 2 in Florida it's 3 where you are? Or vice versa? I didn't think there was a time zone east of Floida, except for Newfie Time. Anyway, Florida is Eastern. From west to east across the continent it goes Pacific, Mountain, Central, Eastern, Newfie.

2 time zones

Florida has two time zones. The eastern part of Florida is in the Eastern time zone. The western part of the state (the panhandle from about Port St. Joe west) is in the Central time zone.

A 2

Was there any particular reason you quoted that exact paragraph, or did you just feel like quoting?

One of the bus drivers on the route I usually take knows which street I get off on. 0_0

... well, that's weird. I can never recall having the same bus driver twice on the same route.

AH, YAY! I just listened to it! I don't think I can wait a whole week to hear the next part. [squirm] And there was C.M.O.T. Dibbler at the end! :D
