What strange fancy posessed me to actually look up the Decemberists' website? Why didn't I think of it before? (Duh!)

My favourite part:

'The Decemberists travel exclusively by Dr. Herring's Brand® Dirigible Balloons.'

See for yourself! (The site, not the balloons)

Thanks for the link!
I cannot verify regarding the Dr. Herring's Dirigible Balloons but the website is awesome. I like the old-new feel of it, especially the take on the old 18th century Postman with the villagers image in the Contact section.

I have listened to a few samples of their music. I need to listen to a few more but so far I like it. It might be nice when I order the Dar Williams CD from Amazon to also add a Decemberist CD to the mail order and just get to know them more over time. They do remind me a bit of the heavy metal Bluegrass group Nickel Creek, and I consider that a compliment since Nickel Creek is one of my fave groups.

My two cents

Haven't heard them, but my latest favorite is Great Big Sea, a terrific group that plays kind of folky-rocky-sea shanty stiff. Check 'em out on Amazon, listen to the clips, and enjoy! The live album (Road Rage) is AWESOME.

Sheesh, who's the Great Big Sea pusher? They may sing shanties but they aren't 'The Mariner's Revenge Song'! Mwahaha! BATTLE OF THE BANDS!!!

Go rave about GBS on your own blog. :P

"Battle of the Bands" Have we been transported into some bizarro alternate universe?

BTW, I introduced disneyboy to GBS, and he says he's going to buy some CDs. I'd push 'em on my blog, BUT NOBODY READS IT. Or at least nobody leaves comments. *cough*

Irony check . . . "blog" is not recognized by LJ's spell checker.

Hey, You don't know me, (my name is Kathleen) but I like your illustrations and also like the Decemberists. I saw them last semester touring with the Sons and Daughters. Really fantastically awesome show. At one point they all got down on the floor of the stage and then had everyone in the audience sit down on the floor of the bar too. Eventually, the only one standing was the bouncer, who through several minutes of pleading was finally persuaded to sit down as well (to much cheering.) I like Picaresque the best of their albums.

I like the illustrations here, too - they remind me a little of Friso Henstra, this great artist who did pictures for, among other things, "The Practical Princess" (which is a REALLY great story) back when I was a lad.
