Why is it when I feel completely exhausted and not wanting very much to draw, I manage something halfway decent?
Page One - Another sort of image from my dream Sunday night. The most important scene in my dream (the one which following scenes were heavily dependent on) was a scene involving a friend of mine from about grade 6 or so. In the years since then we rapidly grew apart until we had practically nothing to do with each other, not because of any animosity but because we had practically nothing in common. Her family, though, stayed good friends of my family, and they lived just a couple houses down the street from us, so I'd see her every time there was a birthday or something, and she therefore stayed present in the background. Since moving away I'd hardly thought about her at all, so it was odd to see her turn up in my dream the other night, especially as she was playing a secret police type person very much like the ones in V for Vendetta, even though she looks more like Witch Hunter Robin. She came to search my house (very early in the morning) but didn't so much search it as poke around in a condescending manner, and then make a comment that made me extremely angry. I don't think I caught her face very well here. This 'shot' never appeared in my dream (it being mostly my P.O.V. ...mostly) but it is roughly the scenario when she made that comment. It was a really stupid comment that wouldn't have made me angry at all in real life, but for some reason it enraged me in my dream and it made perfect sense to be that enraging. Weird.
Page Two - Drawing with a pen I found on the sidewalk that morning which turned out to have a lot finer point than I was expecting. I also realised why I have such a vivid image of the Bandit Queen in my head: she looks like one of my favourite life drawing models. Heheh.

-Curious as to the snide comment now, she sure does seem pleased with herself.
-Almost exactly how I pictured the bandit queen.. Although I do hope the model has the full compliment of fingers.

Hey spiffy, you've got an LJ now! Can I friend you?

Last time I checked, the model had all ten fingers ... You guys had her on Monday and my sister didn't mention anything about missing fingers but it's a dangerous world, so anything could happen.

Tula can tell you about the snide comment. It was really dumb.

It's funny how things like that make perfect sense in dreams.

Now I'm curious about the rest of your dream, like what's up with the strange trucks and the magenta necklace thing.

Maybe your subconsciousness is trying to give you a message?

I LOVE DREAM DRAWINGS. Your first drawing is really cool. She looks a lot like one of my typical dream demons - impeccably dressed, and with a snide facial expression.

I like the second drawing too, but could you give me a hint as to where I might be able to read about this bandit queen?

The Bandit Queen is a song ... it's at 22:05 here (http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=5073439) ... though you might want to listen to the whole interview.

hey, your detective not-really-friend-anymore has a tack in her hand. Did she like pin something to the wall or pick it up from the floor? *gasp* *whispers* (I see three faces.) :O

Actually, she had just pulled the tack out of something. The 'ghost' face in the corner was just sketching out her expression so I could get it right-ish.

You look dangerous in that first drawing - your childhood friend looks like she's taking her life in her hands with her snide comment and expression! (If I didn't know you...well, even though I do,I don't think I'd dare to be so cavalier!)
Love that Bandit Queen drawing (though it almost looks like she's missing a pinky - a bandidt's life is full of risk, I'm sure)

Well, I did feel like punching her (a very rare feeling for me, needless to day) but by the time my brain had arrived at that, she had gone ... just as well. In fact I spent most of the rest of the dream telling people about how I wanted to punch her but it's a good thing I didn't.

... needless to say, I mean.

And the Bandit Queen, well, according to the song, her fingers number only nine. I'm glad you caught that; I thought it wasn't very clear in the drawing.
