Snicketysnicketysnickety
Jan. 14th, 2005 01:07 pmThe best thing about The Grim Grotto is the absence of the Snicket Impostor... they used to have the actual Mr. Handler reading the letter to the editor at the end, which gave the audiobooks a sort of extra veracity if you knew whose voice it was, but then on Carnivorous Carnival they replaced him with someone who sounds like Marlin the Clownfish, or possibly Daniel Pinkwater. This was always disturbing - that man is not Lemony Snicket! Anyway, they've solved that by doing away with his parts entirely ... not just the final letter (which is understandable in this case as all the final letters in GG are pretty much unreadable) but the blurb from the back of the book as well.
I have now listened to the end of the book about three times. In my own defense, my CD player was skipping around something fierce the first time so I HAD to listen to it again, you see. The third time just sort of ... happened.
