Here's the first episode of Guards! Guards!
... it's OK. I'm glad I know the book well because some of the scenes ... well. Maybe I'm just dense. You try.

It looks like it might run every day this week, rather than once a week for several weeks. Here's the BBC7 player for everyone to keep track of it ... While you're there you can check out such excellent shows as On The Hour and I'm Sorry I Haven't a Clue.

My mom's in town this week and my dad's coming up this weekend so I will be posting even less than usual... sorry.

Woot! I was looking for this earlier, but failed to find it because I fail at computers. Thanks for the links, and have fun with your parents. :)

I gotta say - I didn't enjoy Guards! Guards! While I'm sure all the voices were technically accurate, they sounded wrong. Lauren and I both agree that Carrot is particularly off. This wasn't a problem on Mort, as I hadn't been exposed to the books before I heard that. I'm going to have to give this a pass and instead focus my time on Charm Offensive each hour, on the hour (any more frequent and it would become wearing... well, maybe not).

Don't forget On the Hour on the hour every hour ... maybe alternate it with Charm Offensive. Mmm, Iannucci goodness. I wonder when they'll bring back The 99p Challenge.

Did you not like Carrot's overpowering Welshness, maybe? Every rendition of him I've ever heard has had him as Welsh, no matter who it's by, so I'm starting to think it's got be a canon thing. I didn't like most of the voices either ... I couldn't even tell Nobby was Nobby at first, and Vimes's accent is all wrong for someone who's grown up in the Shades. :P

What's up doc?

Well of course someone from Wales is playing Carrot. Welsh Rabbit is a favorite treat out there. And everyone knows rabbits LOVE carrots.

I'm preparing a disk full of BBC Radio Dramas for a friend in the old sod, so I was going through my 'archives'. There really is some amazing stuff. If you want a list of what I've got (as best as I can make on), drop me a line, or a comment. Discworld, Stephen King, Lindsay Davis, Ian Rankin, Sherlock Holmes, and that's just the start. I've got plays, serials, JAM, ISIHAC, Dad's Army, Yes Minister, Steptoe, News Quiz, Goodness Gracious Me, HHGTTG, LOTR... it goes on.

I've been reading your journal for ages, you're a good source for news on upcoming BBC stuff. I get the BBC7 email newsletter too, but don't always read it all. Also, I love your sketches. There are times when you put yourself down too much. Your drawing talent is fantastic.

Well, I suppose it might possibly make some sense to have Carrot with some slight Welshness - doesn't he come from under Copperhead or Llamedos or somewhere like that?

Must check before I put my foot any further into my mouth...
