Here's a painting I did for a friend's birthday, with REAL PAINT...

It's framed a little wide so that the mat would crop it to its intended dimension, but I kind of got attached to the way it looked and was a little dsappointed when the top part of the biggest tree got cut off. Oh well, I can live with it. It's funny, to apply the base coat of white, I used the biggest brush in my arsenal – a camel-hair watercolour wash brush, which didn't like the thick sticky acrylic paint much and shed a lot of bristles into it. (You can't see them very well in the scan, though.) It's texture! Yeeeeaaaaah.

Anyhoo, now that I've climed back on the paint bicycle and am not quite so afraid of what might happen if I pick up a brush again, there might be more in the future ... I wonder if I can be brave enough to try gouache. It seems like most of my favourite paintings are done in it.

Oooh, pretty! I am in love with the crow, and the big tree is awesome. Haha, I am horrible at painting by hand. I'm okay with big blotches of color, but once it comes to lining...psh, it's bad.

Yes, please do more with a brush!

That is such an awesome painting. I love the simplicity to it, and the shadows and the little bit of red.

*gasp* real paint!? :O This is gorgeous btw. The trees are so pretty and they have shadows and everything, and the raven just sitting there, very clever :)

80 WHOAH. That is one lucky friend! I love the tiny dots and dashes of red and especially the bark on the big tree. Real paint ... wow. You're amazing at EVERYTHING.

Brilliant, of course. I never have the patience to do paintings properly. I like the little splash of red up there. ♥

And.. This post appears twice..?

Oh my goodness. I absolutely *adore* this. The stunning colors/contrast, the wee little raven, the bright red berries against the snow.... the shadows of the trees (with their wonderful bark texture)..... I just really, really like this.
*claps*

That's such a lovely painting. I thought it was a computer painting at first, but no, it's a really nice traditional media sort of painting. Very simple and really clean too. Love it.

do you accept illustration works right now for books? i asked you that question about a year ago, and you said you weren't accepting any works. how about now? i have a children's book with crappy sample illustrations and its with the publishers right now. i'm in need of an artist who can illustrate the book for me. :D how can i contact you? my email address is niqcid@niqcid.com thanks!

Yay! Ravens are fun, until they attack you on the way to the bookstore. But still.

Pretty! I love the shadows; they're just the right subtle shade of blue. And the shadows draw your eyes nicely to the red, move you through the painting.
