This morning, arriving at a particular point in my commute a good deal before the vehicle was scheduled to leave, I popped in to Starbucks for the first time in a while. They raised their prices by 15c not long ago (part of why I haven't been there recently) and it seems they've decreased the size of their cups by 15% as well. This on top of already inflated Canadian prices that do not reflect the current Canadian/US exchange rate...

Also, I need to find out why so much of my coffee tastes like tar. Does anyone experience this besides me? I buy Brand A, Roast B one time and every pot I make of it is delicious; I get exactly the same thing the next time and it tastes like tar. I don't do anything differently, and every pot from each respective batch is the same, either delicious or hydrocarbony – no matter who makes it, what time of day it is, the weather, or even if I chart out the ley lines of the house and keep it in a cupboard of partucular harmoniousness and only grind it on the proper nights of the lunar cycle while chanting ancient Kenyan coffee mantras. I've practically given up on making my own coffee anymore. Why do the coffee gods taunt me so? It's not even like I drink that much of it ... only on Sunday mornings and at times when I really must not fall asleep, or if we have company over for dinner.

That is so odd with the coffee not brewing the same...I wish I could suggest something, but it seems you've tried everything I could think of already.

Hmmm...
