It's that time again!

It was 11:30 PM on Friday and I was on my way to bed when I realised I hadn't done my sketchbook page. And I didn't particularly care. In penance for this, I did two more pages of Ratigan and a page of bus people on Monday on top of life drawing which would otherwise have counted all on its own.
Page 1 - Ratigan, being musical.
Page 2 - Ratigan, being angry; also, a young girl with prematurely bald eyebrows and skeletal facial structure, who was on the bus, and an attempt at rehashing Tawneee from Thud! based on some old drawings I found and without actually reacquainting myself with the character via the text. Oddly enough, she looks just as bad as my other drawings! My sister's right, when I try to draw pretty girls it just looks like I'd rather be drawing a guy, or a more interesting girl. (I would.) I'd also like to add I can't draw pretty girls without subconsciously trying to be satirical.
Page 3 - Bus people, including one of the guys from life drawing (not the model) who was reading Goblet of Fire.
TODAY - I'd been working on my portfolio all day (i.e. moving images around on a screen) and, much as with Friday, realized I hadn't drawn anything all day, so I asked the person I was chatting with for a suggestion and he said 'The oldest creature in the world.' I resisted the temptation to be a lazy smartypants and draw a bacterium. That only took up half a page so the rest was filled with rabbits (thanks to a mention of Watership Down earlier in the day) and a kitten in a blanket (pertaining to a previous part of the conversation).

I just might have my portfolio done* by this time tomorrow. Especially as I have been rather unwisely downing strong green tea since 6pm. Heheh ... miles to go before I sleep.

*pending expert consultation and revision

1:35 am: I like how I still habitually check my Friends page at 1 in the morning. Like anyone's going to be posting. ;)

i really, really, really would love to see you "create" your magic on paper :D

"when I try to draw pretty girls it just looks like I'd rather be drawing a guy, or a more interesting girl. (I would.) I'd also like to add I can't draw pretty girls without subconsciously trying to be satirical."

Welcome to my Hell! :P And then when I get into the habit of drawing females, going back to draw guys becomes next to impossible! Ugh!

LOL! Is that a coelacanth? He's AWESOME! He looks like he needs one of those "I've fallen and I can't get up" button-things. XD

Is Ratigan wearing a skirt with high heals? =O

"I think it's a good look for him, don't you? "

Aye! He's a dainty one! :) Like one of those guys that have a fetish for secretly donning their mother's clothing when no one is around.

Very Bates-esque!

(I really should get my masters in Mental Health counseling! XP)

I love The Great Mouse Detective. A friend and I annually watch it with tea. But the rabbit that you have sitting on it's back legs, standing with it's ears straight up, looks exactly like my rabbit, only mine's black...

Everyone checks their flist at one in the morning. That's the reason no one updates then--they're hoping that someone else has instead. It's a vicious cycle.

ps-Ratigan is looking awesome. And I love the giant fish/monster creature in your portfolio picture.

Yay sketchbook pages! I love Ratigan's expression on page 2 on the top, the rectangle face guy on the bottom right of page 3, and the fact that you drew the oozy fishslug on the same page as the bunnies and kitten :-D Also YAY YOU DREW TAWNEEE! She's one of my favorite one-book characters. For some reason, the idea of a big-hearted, totally naïve pole dancer who likes Nobby just tickles me. Her line "He makes me widdle myself, he's so funny!" had me in a total giggle-fit. I also think it's totally appropriate that you draw her with a hint of satire in her looks - she is a satire, after all. I tend to picture her as really tall, with a big, doofy grin (and a helium voice, but I know you can't draw voices. :-p) Anyway, I hope you try her again :-D

I think the satire should be in her existence and situation more than clearly a part of her facial features, though ... if I could just make her look actually pretty, in an 'all-there-is-is-pretty' kind of way, that'd be funny enough. In my opinion. I probably will try her again, if I can remember she exsists...

Now I'm going to sing Rattigan's song for hours !

I used to be in love with Basil.

I love how in that bottom picture of Ratigan being angry that you've drawn in the lower portion of a woman's dress and it looks like Ratigan is wearing high heels.

You should never say 'strong green tea' in the presense of someone who drinks Assam.

As for oldest creature in the world - you should have drawn a young man with an axe standing next to a bristlecone pine in Nevada. Aforementioned caption and arrow pointing to the tree, another arrow and caption reading: [deadest grad student in the world] next to the man.
