Yesterday's Sketchbook - And so, with this, I compensate for last week's neglect – just in time to fall behind again! Hooray!

This is the scene from Charles Augustus Milverton (With slight editing as per the radio play):
"You would not call me a marrying man, Watson?"
"No, indeed!"
"You'll be interested to hear that I am engaged."
"My dear fellow! I congrat ----"
"To Milverton's housemaid."
"Holmes!"
Hee hee hee.

If you want to get Hooked on Holmes: This will take you to Charles Augustus Milverton and the BBC7 Radio Player. In the long list of shows, scroll down to 'The Return of Sherlock Holmes' and you will have four other shows to listen to. (C.A.M. was Friday's.) There's a new one every day and they last 7 days. If The Return... ends and a new series begins with a different name, the lovely continuity announcer will advise you of this.

These are great.

I found your LJ through your potter project. Awesome stuff, and inspiring.

Is there a link where I can find the radio plays you listen to? I downloaded the ones you posted a while back and I'm hooked!

Updated the post with a map to the plays. Also, talk to [livejournal.com profile] browncoat about MP3s; I think he mentioned being a dealer a while ago.

Thanks for the link! I love this particular version - our library doesn't have nearly enough copies of it.

I realize it's necessary because it's radio, but I found it hilarious that Holmes and Watson talk through the entire burgalizing process. GREAT criminals they would make :P When my brother and I used to sneak around the house at night to watch Star Trek (on mute with subtitles), we developed a whole series of hand-signals so we wouldn't wake anyone up by talking.

Ahh, late night muted ramblings, I know them well... our TV didn't have closed captioning, though, otheriwse I might have had a clue as to what the heck was going on in Gormenghast.

OMG you should animate that... seriously, rip the audio and animate it. in, like, your nonexistent free time

What, really? I mean ... really?

Well, yeah! I mean, it would be a really fun thing to animate and the audio is great. It would be a peach of a scene and it's not too long.

Um. No. Oh, no. Definately not. I mean, I am a totally objective observer, ahem, without any incentives for pressuring you into doing -- DO IT DO IT DO IT DO IT!!!

I love your Watson so much. His character design to begin with is a glorious embodiment of Watson, but the poses and expressions you've given him just bring him to life and I too wish you could animate it in your unexisting free time...

What I love about this scene is, who the heck did Watson think Holmes was going to marry? Mrs. Hudson? (pauses to fangirl Sherlock Hound) It's so Watsony that he's like, 'yay!' rather than, 'whu... do you actually know any actual women? WTF?'

(sorry for html stupid *&*(% reposts)

Well, look at Watson – how long was it between meeting Mary Morstan and getting engaged to her? I'm sure Watson would assume Holmes, with his diligence and talents, could land a girl in five days if he set his mind to it. (The motive, on the other hand...)

Ooh, that's amazing/splendiferous/insert-your-favourite-adjective-here!

I clicked before reading any of the text, and immediately Michael Williams' voice popped into my head when I saw the bottom-right picture. Just shows what a great likeness it is when I find that you *were*, apparently, listening to the BBC radio shows of Awesomeness! Very impressive.

Hee! here from [livejournal.com profile] infiniteviking's rec at [livejournal.com profile] 221b_bakerst. I love Holmes' sly over-his-shoulder look...and yes, your Watson is fabulous.

I agree; this would be so cool animated. At some point in time. ^_^

I listened to that one yesterday, in fact, I'm listening to the 6 napolians now. Might I say how I completely adore your Sherlock Holmes drawings, and thank you so much for writing about the bbc radio plays.
I'm hooked!

One quesiton, after listening to them, do you tend to act more Sherlockian? Or is it just me?

I do tend to retreat into the purely intellectual sphere and have little patience or thought for the feelings of others, which undoes ten years of careful self-tutoring in People Skills. Thanks a lot, Sherlock.

On the other hand I have been inspired to practise my fiddle a bit more than usual...

(Glad to know I'm not alone :)
