Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows cover released
Um ... okay ...
The artist seems to have captured Rupert Grint's gerning quite accurately. Aside from that ... well, I've never liked the British covers much. On the other hand, Mary GrandPre's is deliciously atmospheric and much nicer to look at, especially without text and stuff cluttering it up. I must warn you though, it is HYOOOOOOOJ. (Thanks
spence137!)
... British Potter covers anyway, because Paul Kidby ROCKS and Making Money looks to be no exception! (thanks to
thefordmustang for pointing that out so long ago which I never acknowledged, sorry!) I have little doubt the contents will also be superior.

Date: 2007-03-28 06:05 pm (UTC)Hah. Dobby is Godric's Heir. Now that would make me cackle to pieces.
So it looks like we get a gringotts battle. Ker-yay.

Date: 2007-03-28 06:09 pm (UTC)And I call myself a fan...

Date: 2007-03-28 07:17 pm (UTC)Is there a Stargate involved too? 'Cause it looks like there's one in the background :p
That cover is SO XTREME LOLZ 'SPLOSIONS!!1

Date: 2007-03-28 07:21 pm (UTC)And then they can meet Vimes In Space, and rack up a Discworld crossover as well.
... Gringotts would totally have a Stargate in their vaults. Wait a minute – wait a minute – maybe the Stargate is a Horcrux! Maybe it's in Sirius' vault! Maybe when he was in hiding he was on another planet!
I am thinking about this way too much.

Date: 2007-03-29 09:12 pm (UTC)Wait, wait, no, the Department of Mysteries Veil is a Stargate and it transported Sirius into a Gringotts vault and he's been trying to get out ever since and Harry goes into Gringott's to bust him out! But that wouldn't work in the Stargate Universe because both Stargates would have the same point of origin... so the Stargate must be magical as well.

Date: 2007-03-30 12:27 am (UTC)Anyway, I know he's a significant influence on my mental image of Vimes (thanks to my former roommate's Stargate habit) and it was only when I consciously realized this that I got a drawing of Vimes that I liked.
So back to this crossover thing: MAGICAL STARGATES! If the veil gate transported Sirius to Gringotts then ... there would be ... a wormhole... THROUGH THE EARTH. Or through part of London anyway. That would seriously injure the fabric of reality, and probably open up the Dungeon Dimensions.
Ding! Crossover #4. Kind of. Well, it's still Discworld, but it's so very not a Vimesy Discworld thing and ... I'm rambling.

Date: 2007-03-30 01:16 am (UTC)Heehee, Vimesy! *snuffles Vimes* Ooh, and Sirius! *snuffles him too*

Date: 2007-03-28 05:40 pm (UTC)I'm pretty sure if one were to try and string a viola like a violin, the strings would snap. Unless I misunderstand your question. It would also probably sound bad... I'm guessing not unlike a rooster fighting a cat.

Date: 2007-03-28 06:14 pm (UTC)*squeals, flails arms, probably misspelled flails*

Date: 2007-03-28 06:17 pm (UTC)On the other hand, it's only just over six months away. And Amazon might have a larger cover picture before then! [joins the flailing, which is spelled correctly by the way]

Date: 2007-03-28 06:20 pm (UTC)I'll just spend my flailing-energy on TDH for now and start flailing for MM after I've read that one. :p

Date: 2007-03-28 06:16 pm (UTC)Thanks for the shout out about "Making Money." I am so looking forward to that book- I need a good laugh. That thing about taking the chairman for a walk each day was pretty funny. I imagine we will not have such a cute "Making Money" book cover in the USA- we go for the Karl Hiaasen look here for the Discworld covers. Pity, because Paul Kidby spoofs popular culture so much in his cover art.
I do have to give kudos, though, to the guy who designed the U.S. paperbook version of "Going Postal" that kind of seemed to be spoofing the Kevin Costner film "The Postman."

Date: 2007-03-28 06:22 pm (UTC)Hermione's robes make her look like Madame Trelawney.
I like the adult cover, though. Those ones tend to be pretty cool.
Making Money = YAY!!! Must feed Discworld addiction!
